PAGE 2-PLAINDEAlER-FRIDAY, MAY 12, 1972 Grandma Sez ... & MR. AND MRS. OTTO ME Otto Mergl, Cheryl Fitzl Wed Saturday Christ the King Catholic church, Wonder Lake, was the scene of a pretty spring wed ding Saturday, May 6, when Cheryl Fitzl of McHenry, daughter of Robert Fitzl of Hebron and the late Mrs. Fitzl, became the bride of Otto Mergl, son of Mrs. and Mrs. John Mflfgl of Ringwood. Cgtniey repeated their nuptial Vbws before Rev. Tranel at the t1'o'clock afternoon services. " Given in marriage by her father, the pretty bride chose a floor length gown of white chiffon. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses, daisies and mums. Diane Fitzl of McHenry at tended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Linda Fitzl, Laura Ackerman and Janet Welter. Little Bridget Redmond served as flower girl. The attendants were attired In green and yellow floral print RGL dresses. Each carried a bouquet of yellow and white daisies. \ Lowie Mergl of Ringwood served his brother as bestlman. Groomsmen were Ken Justen, Bob Fitzl, Lenny Ackerman and Bob Dietrich. Larry Sch- mitt and Pete Braden served as ushers. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Knights of Columbus hall for 250 friends and relatives. The bride is employed as a sales clerk for Spurgeon's and the bridegroom works as a machinist for Astro Craft. The newlyweds are presently on a wedding trip in Florida. Danny Diedrich Receives First Holy Communion Danny, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Willaim Diedrich, received his first Communion at a home Mass last Friday evening for which Father Leo Bartel of St. John the Baptist church was celebrant. Attending the Mass were Danny's godparents, Mrs. Janice Draffkorn, her husband, Tom, and family of Woodstock, and Dennis Diedrich, his wife and family, of McHenry. Mr. Diedrich is an uncle of Danny. Others present were the great-grandfather, Philip Thennes, of McHenry; the grandparetns, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Diedrich and family of Johnsburg, Mr. and Mrs. John Schmitt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nischan, Ssiter Eleanor and Sister Celeste, Mrs. Shirley Lossmann, Danny's younger brother, Doug, and his small sister, Debbie. Refreshments were served during the evening. Myrtle Voss Wed Recently In Florida Friends have received an nouncement of the recent marriage of Mrs. Myrtle E. Voss of Florida, formerly of McHenry, and Mr. James L, Knight. The couple exchanged nuptial vows Friday, March 21, at Satellite Beach, Fla. They are now at home at 2312 S. Patrick drive, Apartment 501, Satellite Beach, Fla. Sure is up6ettin' t' hear o' more development, a goin' on, in our community. We're a goin't' be developed right out o' our semi-rural environment, an' we'll be enveloped in more pollution, o' air an' water, than ever afore. Guess there ain't nothin' we kin do about it, 'cause folks need homes, but seems t' me that it's a bit sad, V visualize the disappearance o' the lovely farm lands, the new turned earth, an' the shadow o' green things a growin' in the fields, gradually a reachin' the state o' ripeness fer pickin*. It' shorely a goin' t' make a big change in our surroundin's. Sometimes, me wonders, if there wasn't so mtich money t' be made, the folks, responsible fer the, so-called-, progress'd be so interested in promotin' the project. Seems that everyone 's out t' make a dollar, no matter how wey do it, an' it don't seem t' matter what the results il be. First thing ye knqw^ we'll be o'ercome wi' industry, our town, sich a short time ago turned inter a city, '11 be jist like all the rest, a swarmin' wi' too many people, a ridin' in too many autimobiles, causin' too much traffic. Too many younguns fer the eddicational accommodations, too many folks a crowdin' the shoppin' facilities, an* jist too much o' most everthin' fer this nice little area. Seems t' this ol' lady that there's so many things, im portant t' promotin' a better society, improvin' the en vironment, an* far *s I kin see, it ain't a goin' t' Jbe ac complished by enlargin' the population o' the small com munities. Seems that more complications 're in the makin', while certain individuals see dollar signs a growin', wherever there's a bit o' vacant land. At times we're a livin', these days, wi' the need o' more foliage, trees an such, t' combat the polluted air, it'd be a sight better t' put in the makin's o' a good area o' timber, a helpin' nature t' cure the ills o' the ecology, 'stead o' puttin' more sources o' pollution by buildin' dwellins on the lands that afforded some help t' Mother Nature, fer years. Man ain't a goin't' quit, 'till there's no land left t' make a dollar wi'.
