The Hovseth Family Who was that guy who said there are only two Sox fans in McHenry? Watch the list grow. As time goes on, many of us will miss Pearl Miller more and more Her smile spread cheer. Without seeing Pearl too often, we always considered her a true friend. Friends may come and friends may go, but memories of true friends linger on forever. Took our 4-year old grandson, Brendan, in to see John Varese for an ice cream cone. "This time, grandpa, can I have a green one?" "What kind of a green one?" asked John. Brendan's quick reply was, "Irish." The Warriors took a one run lead in the first inning as Rogers led off the frame with a single and eventually scored on Wickenkamp's sacrifice. In the fourth the Streaks put all three runs on the board as 7 men went to the plate for them The Warriors made an attempt to put the pieces back together again but left four men on base as they could score only one final tally in the 6th when Karafa, who singled, scored on DeCicco base hit. Result: McHenry, 2 vs, Woodstock, 3. BOX SCORE H R RBI fc John was still chuckling when we left. ^ That same grandson was a stow-a-way recently. We took him for a ride late one recent afternoon ~ he and his little sister, Aleen. Took them home and visited a while. Driving home, we felt a push on the driver's seat. Looked around and saw, to our great surprise, Brendan on the floor in back. Looking up he said, "I want to go to Grandma's house." Irene brought a letter to our desk with a remark that it looked personal. It sure was! Above the picture of a man and pretty girl was this heading: HAPPY TODAY! BALD TOMORROW? Below the picture was this message: Lucky is the girl who has a man who wants to "have and hold" his good head of hair. Because a good head of hair helps him keep his youthful appearance - a vital asset in his business and social world. The letter came from Precinct 20, McHenry. We looked at the map and feel sure we have nailed down the culprit. A case of the pot and the "kittle". Compared to him, our hair is bushy.
