Olsen, brother of the groom. tRichard Albright of McHenry served as best man and Miss Linda Martz acted as maid of honor. Groomsmen were Tim Freund of McHenry, Bob Coble and Jim Greathouse, both from Indianapolis. Thomas Baby Is Christened Michael Gregory Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Thomas, was christened recently at a 1 o'clock ceremony held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church. The baby has a brother, William Robert. ; The Rev. Mr. Olsen, now employed by Sweeney Constructiqh com­ pany in Indianapolis, attended Northern Illinois University and Milton college. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and is now at­ tending Purdue university extension part-time while working construction. Mrs. Olsen graduated from John Marshall high school in 1970 and Indiana University Dental Assistance school in 1971. She is employed as a dental assistant in Indianapolis. After their honeymoon trip to the Bahamas and Florida, the young couple will make their home in Indianapolis. ^ Michael and Jennifer, Mr. and Mrs. William Erber, Mrs. Alvina Latimer, Mrs. Rita Ulrich and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Lange and children, Todd, Ellen, Mary, Eric, Mathew and Jennifer, all of McHenry. BENEFIT DINNER In a continuing effort to add to their convent building fund, the Benedictine Sisters at Benet Lake, Wis., will hold their annual chicken dinner festival on the grounds Sunday, Aug. 20. The convent may be reached from County Hwy. V. in Salem township, and is located three miles northeast of Antioch. McCormack Wed Saturday St. Patrick's Catholic church was the setting for a beautiful wedding Saturday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. when Miss Helene C. Gianos became the bride of Mr. Thomas M.McCormack of 2416 N. Mac Arthur lane, McHenry. Miss Gianos? who resides at 4518 Garden Quarter road, McHenry, is the daughter of Mrs. George J. (Goldie) Gianos of 550 Arlington Place, Chicago. Mr. McCormack's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Timothy L. McCormack of 2408 Manor lane, McHenry. Father Edmund Petit and the Rev. Richard L. Stanger of­ ficiated at the afternoon nuptial rite. The soloist was Larry Leafblad, who sang "Morning Has Broken". Pretty Miss Gianos chose a bridal gown of voile, with lace bodice, high neckline, sheer sleeves, lace cuffs and simple skirt. There was small lacing around the bottom and the train was also lace-edged. She wore a lace crown headpiece and carried a bouquet of daisies, stephanotis and baby's breath. Attending the bride were Kay Gianos of Galesburg, 111., a sister-in-law, as matron of honor, Miss Gail McCormack of McHenry, sister-in-law, Mrs. Sue Jensen of McHenry and Mrs. Toddi Conway of John- sburg, bridesmaids. The attendants wore lime green dresses with large white lace collars and long sheer sleeves with lace cuffs. They carried daisy bouquets in yellow and white. t Timothy T. McCormack of Johnsburg served as best man for his brother. Groomsmen were James Cameron of Niles, Keith Jensen and Gary Snell of McHenry. Mrs. Gianos chose for her daughter's wedding a floor length dress with brown skirt and beige bodice. Mrs. Mc­ Cormack wore a yellow, floor length dress. Following the ceremony, 200 guests gathered for a reception at the American Legion clubhouse in McHenry. After a trip through Wisconsin, the newlyweds will make their home at 3904 W. Main street, McHenry. The new Mrs. McCormack is engaged in art work in the composition department of Forms Corp. „of America, Spring Grove. Her husband is a salesman for Wards, Crystal Lake. She attended Northern Illinois university for two years and Mr. McCormack was a student at Marquette univer­ sity, also for two years. The Women's club of Wonder Lake will again name two recipients for annual scholarships to be> awarded at the fall Cabaret dance Nov. 11. This year, as usual, the club will select an outstanding boy and girl from Wonder Lake, both of whom will be presented with a $250 scholarship to be used at the college of their choice. Last year's awards went to Susan Ohlrich and Patrick Higgins. Miss Ohlrich will attend Rockford School of Nursing. Mr. Higgins will be a freshman at Champaign- Urbana. Mrs. William Harvey, chairman of the Scholarship committee, has announced applications will be welcomed from all Wonder Lake students, high school or college. More than one applicant per family is permissable. Applications should be submitted in resume form including the following in­ formation: High school or college student, grade point average, professional and social organizations, major, need and community service. * Any additional information, including personal recom­ mendations, is welcome. Coming Events Open House Honors Nun On Jubilee SISTER RUTH MAY Sunday, Aug. 20, from 2 to 5 p.m., there will be open house held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Buenzli, 3701W. High street, McHenry. The occasion will honor the silver jubilee of Sister Ruth May in the convent. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. May of 6005 N. Pioneer road, Ringwood. Relatives a^d friends of Sister R,uth are jjivited to call at the Buepzli home Sunday. The nun, who was appointed as community coordinator this year, was among Sisters celebrating diamond, golden and silver jubilees honored at a special Mass Aug. 2. Father Gene Jung was also one of the participants in this beautiful ceremony, held in the Milwaukee, Wis.. conVent. College-Bound Girls Entertained At Dinner And Play A delightful evening, with dinner and an entertaining stage play, was enjoyed recently by Erica Olson, Zita Yates, Helen Davis, Elizabeth Paulson, Erwine Schatz, Susan Dresdow, Mary Jensen, Gay Braem, Linda Biggs and Madeline Nathanson. At Two Showers Miss Kathy Blake, a bride of the near future, was honored at two showers recently. Fifteen persons attended a personal shower held at the home of Mrs. Paul Meintzer in Lake Forest, with Mrs. Tim Asta as co-hostess. Mrs. Meintzer and Mrs. Asta were classmates of Miss Blake at St. Therese School of Nursing in Waukegan. A tasty luncheon was served. Nurses in the intensive care unit of Evanston hospital were hostesses at a second shower, held in Evanston. They were Anita Hulefeld, Judy Saletra and Carolyn Young. There'll be bargains galore at the resale sponsored by the Easter Seal Women's auxiliary, with Mrs. H.H. Mass of McCullom Lake as general chariman. The members of the auxiliary are busy cleaning their basements, attics and closets and expect many friends to do the same and donate their usable articles for the resale. All of these "goodies" will be collected and ready for the resale to be held in the exhibition hall at the county fairgrounds, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. Mrs. Mass, the chairman, hopes anyone having any furniture, dishes, appliances, toys, games, books and other "clean-outs" will contact her and donate them to the auxiliary for the resale.
