Much of the in formation available to the average Mrs.; Miss CM* Ms., presents only a part of the issue when in reality, the Equal Rights amendment is far more complicated than it may ap pear to be. Far from being a vehicle by which to obtain equal pay for equal work or one which would call for the drafting of women into the military, this amendment to the U.S. Constitution would also make some drastic changes in laws as they are known today. In an effort to make the facts available to the women (and men) of McHenry county, the Democratic Women of • h »Jiry county are spOn- oring a debate between leading authorities on both sides of the issue. The woman's group feels that the ERA is something that can greatly affect the lives of everyone and that each individual should have the opportunity to know all the facts connected with the issue. Speaking for the proponents will be Mary Ann Lupa, president of the Chicago chapter of the National Organization of Women, and Edveta Wolf of the Business and Professional Woman's club of Illinois. Their opponents on the panel will be State Rep. Thomas J. Hanahan of McHenry, leader of the op position against ERA in the Illinois House, and Darlene Degenhardt, president of the Right To Be A Woman organization, who has worked in opposition to ERA with the National Council of Catholic Women, H.O.W. and the Anti Woman's Liberation league. Daniel M. Pierce, state representative of the 32nd district, will act as moderator. This is a non-partisan presentation, admission is free and all interested citizens are invited to attend. All women's clubs and groups throughout the county are especially in vited. Questions may be asked of the panelists following the presentation. The date is Sept. 14; 8 p.m. at the Central school auditorium, 131 Paddock street, Crystal Lake. Anyone who would like further information, should contact Jeanne Holm, 312-497- 3565. About forty friends attended the celebration given by the couple's daughter and her husband, Jean and Elmo Meis of McHenry. A three-tiered wedding cake carried out the rose theme, also in coral. Special music was provided by a Champaign, 111., organist who brought his own special organ for the occasion. Dancing followed the meal. Among friends in attendance were several from Brookfield who required four hours to make the trip due to the heavy flooding the previous night.
