Pat Sullivan, McHenry county home economics Ex­ tension adviser, reports that there is no formal, legal definition for the terms "natural", "Organic" or "health foods." However, specialty food producers generally are using the terms as follows: -Natural foods are products marketed without preser­ vatives, emulsifiers or ar­ tificial ingredients. -OrganiC: foods are essen­ tially th^ same as natural foods, but greater care has been given to the soil and plant environment to exclude pesticides and artificial fer­ tilizers. -Health foods include dietetic, vegetarian and. special-diet foods. Such foods are not necessarily free of artificial chemicals. Specialty foods are usually sold in specialty shops and special sections of super­ markets for higher prices than conventional foods. In fact, unscrupulous marketers may label conventional foods "organic" in order to charge higher prices. However, they can be prosecuted for falsely labeling a product. Deadline Nears For Special State Licenses The deadline for reassign­ ment of special Illinois license plate numbers is Sept. 30. Motorists wishing to retain their present numbers or acquire special new numbers are advised to begin processing applications. The Motor club advises Illinois motorists to make application on the proper51973 form which is preprinted and partially completed. The required fee, based on indicated horsepower, is printed on face of the renewal form. The car designated on the form will be the original vehicle owned in 1972. If 1972 plates were transferred to another car, the preprinted form should still be used and necessary corrections should be made. The club suggests that alcohol. Rinse and polish.
