Thought Chris Durkin did a nice job of announcing the "Homecoming Half-Time Band Show" last Friday night. Hats off to John Leighty. He had the band and performers ready. Chris announced, "The band will enter the field under the direction of Lynn Tomlinson, the drum major". And, enter they did -- with Lynn doing a nice job. St. Ed's 30-0 Joe Wagner of McHenry led all rushers with 106 yards in 20 carries in the Marian triumph over the Green Waves of St. Edwards' of Elgin, last Saturday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. Nineteen seniors will trot out on Mc- Cracken Field for the last time Friday night. They are Doug Nelson, Randy Mauch, Mark Bentz, Roger Ludwig, Scott Lundelius, Tom Knaack, Bob Habich, Russ Grover, Larry Isaacs, Mark Gibson, Dan Hellios, George Lossman, Mike Whitehead, Jack Dusthimer, Jim Dimopoulos, Phil Mowrer, Pat Heald, John Cunat, and Gary Truckenbrod. This game should be a good one. Both teams are evenly matched coming into tonight's fray. Each have identical conference records of 2 wins and 2 losses. The Cats were defeated by North Chicago last week 9 to 8 while the Warriors lost to Zion-Benton 21 to 10. So, fans, hope to see you out at the old ball game tonight to root the Warriors on to victory. The Crystal ball was good for 3 out of 4 last week for a season's total of 11 right and 5 wrong. Here we go again'. Warriors over Cats kickoff, the Hurrican defense forced St. Ed's to punt and on the second play from scrim­ mage, Joe Wagner went 47 yards for a touchdown. Following the kickoff, the Hurricane defense grabbed a St. Ed's fumble and eight plays later, Wagner went over from the two. Two extra points were scored on a John Feffer run. The Marian offense was held in the second quarter to an eight yard field goal by Gary Shasta I of McHenry. The third quarter was marked by a series of punt exchanges with the Hurricanes gaining 54 yards to St. Ed's 9. During the fourth quarter, Marian had 152 yards of offense to 20 yards for the Green Wave? Scoring came late in (Warriors still have chance for second place) Woodstock over Dundee (Streaks should rebound from Barrington loss) Barrington over North Chicago (Broncos have too much power) Zion over Crystal Lake (ZeeBees too tough for Tigers) the quarter on a John Feffer touchdown pass to Gary Shastal which covered 15 yards. The extra point failed. Five plays later following a St. Ed's fumble, John Feffer scampered for five yards and the fourth touchdown of the afternoon. Gary Shastal's kick was good. Following the game, Coach Tom Parker of Marian noted that Saturday's game was the finest effort, offensively and defensively, by the Hurricanes this season. Next Sunday, Oct. 22, the Hurricanes will travel to Driscoll high school, Addison, where Marian will attempt to extend their 4 to l record to 5 and 1. Harriers Edged 28 To 29 In Final Dual Meet By Dick Rabbitt The McHenry high school 'Running Warriors" lost their final dual meet of the season Thursday at West campus to Libertyville by the score of 28 to 29. George Haines and Tim Tonyan ran one-two but they could not overcome the overall team balance of the Wildcats. Sophs won 18 to 41. Tyrrell issued a news release Wed­ nesday morning stating that effective Oct. 13, Deputy Walter Leffek of the McHenry County Sheriff's department has been suspended indefinitely for conduct unbecoming an officer. This year the meet will be held at McHenry on the West campus course behind the school. On an invitation from the "Running DWI CHARGE William A. Mathison of 7317 Keystone road, Richmond, was arrested for driving while in­ toxicated after deputies ob­ served his vehicle speeding in the vicinity of Howe and Greenwood roads, Wonder Lake, Tuesday night about 11:30. Bond was set at $500, with court date scheduled^for Nov. 6. Warriors" we are asking you fans to come and watch this great meet. The team needs your support, and will ap­ preciate your urging them on to victory. For the first time in several years the Warriors are not the pre-meet favorite. Crystal Lake and Barrington are cast in that role. But don't count the Warriors out of it. They have shown improvement as the season has progressed. Now is the time for the team to get out there and really run. Let's go Warriors and bring back the trophy to McHenry. John Mclnerny, McHenry's sensational sophomore, won the event in the time of 16:34, edging out Phil Wertz of Woodstock. Mclnerny led all the way in the three mile race. John Barnings finished 7th, Kevin Wynveen 8th and Terry Riley 9th for the Warriors. Crystal Lake was a distant third with 78 pts., Cary Grove fourth with 86 pts., and Marian last with 134 pts. runner, easily won the meet in record time of 15:10 seconds.
