Lily Lake road, McHenry, became the bride of Charles Stephen Schmidt of 106 Valley View road, McHenry. The groom's parents are deceased. - The Rev. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 2:30 nuptial Mass in a church decorated with altar bouquets and baskets of white and red carnations. Special music at the ceremony was provided by soloist, Mrs. Charles (Marion) Nelson, and organist, Ssiter M. Andreella. The pretty bride chose a traditional styled gown of chantilly lace, fashioned with a scoop, scalloped neckline, long sleeves and a tiered lace skirt which swept into a chapel length train. An imported, hand-beaded Juliet cap held her three-tiered, nylon illusion, bouffant, elbow length veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and baby's breath accented with peco ribbon and pearl hearts. For sentiment, she wore a gold cross from her mother for "something old" and carried a handkerchief used by her godmother at her wedding for "something borrowed". Annette Cicchini of McHenry attended her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cathy Kreutzer of Libertyville and Denise Tansey of McHenry, both cousins of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Laurie Ann Johnson, sister of the bride and another sister, Renee Johnson, served as flower girl. The attendants were attired in burgandy red velvet, floor length gowns designed with mandarin collars, long sleeves and trimmed with white crocheted lace at the necklines and sleeves. Their headpieces were white maribou hats enhanced with matching burgundy veils. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of red and white roses. Red rose corsages attached to white maribou muffs were carried by the bridesmaids. The flower girl carried a basket filled with white and red rtftes. Michael Schmidt of Me- Cullom Lake served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Ron Schaft of Ringwood, a friend of the groom, and Frank; Schmidt of Wonder Lake, the groom's brother. Junior groomsman was James Johnson of McHenry, the bride's brother. The groom's nephew, Bryan Schmidt of Wonder Lake, served as ringbearer. The bride's mother chose a teal blue suit with matching fur trimmed cape and a white orchid corsage for the church service. At the reception, she wore a brown velvet and gold lace floor length gown with gold accessories. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the American Legion hall, McHenry, for 150 friends and relatives. The bride is a 1972 graduate of MCHS and is now employed at Eby-Brown, McHenry. Her bridegroom, a 1967 graduate of McHenry high school, recently completed his tour of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He now works for Local Roofing, Libertyville. Several weeks prior to the wedding, the bride was honored at two miscellaneous showers, one a dessert party and the other a buffet dinner. Michael Hamil Claims Bride Miss Celeste Marie Shear man and Mr. Michael William Hamil repeated their nuptial vows on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 3 o'clock at St. Peter's church, Antioch. Rev. Eugene Keusal officiated at the ceremony for which Roger Schiller sang "There Is Love", with guitar accompaniment. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shearman of Linden road, Antioch, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hamil of 3002 W. Maryville drive, McHenry. An A line gown of satin trimmed with lace and pearl appliques was worn by the bride. Her flow length veil was edged with lace and pearls. She wore a diamond pendant worn by her mother on her wedding day and carried white roses and ivy. Frances Zymali of Schaumburg was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nancy Rojah, Chicago, Pattie Harmon, Antioch, Beverly Populorum, Chicago, Pat Bitterman, McHenry, Sharon Telinski, Chicago, and Janice Wisniewski. Two-year old Donna Telinski of Antioch was flower girl for her godmother. The attendants wore floor length crepe dresses of hot pepper with empire waist. The flower girl wore a white dress with hot pepper trim. They carried baskets of rust and orange straw flowers. Harry Weber of McHenry was best man. Groomsmen were Michael Reed, Thomas Bitterman, Dennis Hamil, all of McHenry, Walter Carro of Crystal Lake and Gregory Shearman, Lake Villa. The groom's godchild, one-year old Alan Bitterman of McHenry, was ring bearer. The mother of the bride wore a long formal dress with beige lace top and chiffon skirt with 14 matching accessories and a yellow rose and white carnation corsage. The groom's mother had a floor length gown of jersey knit with silver ac cessories and a corsage of yellow roses and white car nations. A reception for 320 guests was held at the White Eagle in Niles. The young couple took a wedding trip to Las Vegas and California. They will reside McHenry. The bride graduated fr Antioch high school in 1969 ai is employed as secretary/at Montgomery Wards Pur chasing department, Chicago. The groom graduated from McHenry high school in 1969 and is employed as parts manager at Conlon and Collins, Crystal Lake. Friendship Club Meets For Pot-Luck Dinner The Friendship club, will meet for its monthly pot-luck dinner and meeting Saturday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m., in the dining room of the First United Methodist church of McHenry. Vivian and Lisle Bassett will be in charge of the program for the evening. Dorothy and Eric Steinbiss, Helen and Reno Eckardt, and Helen Kaufmann will be hosts and hostesses. Nominations Requested For SC Club Vote Frank Giel is chairman of the Nominating committee for the Senior Citizen election. He should be contacted to submit candidates' names. Assisting him are Lester Baker, George Clark, Helen Strandquist and Lyda Radisch. The committee has been working hard to get a slate of officers prepared for the election in January. The McHenry Senior Citizens club is a large and active organization, with an ex tremely good attendance at every meeting and function. It has been headed since its in ception by a fine corps of of ficers, who have enjoyed the progress the club has made. The club offers many diversions, actually something to meet everyone's needs and interest. There is bowling, art and craft classes, bus tours, square dancing, cards, kitchen band, sewing groups, and always the very fine programs at the meetings. The next big event is the annual Christmas dinner party Monday, Dec. 11. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the deadline for reservations is Monday, Dec. 4. Reservations must be made promptly with Louise Giel at 497-3646 as seating space is limited and all tickets must be sold on a first- come - first-served basis. On Monday evening. Nov. 13, the McHenry Choral society will .present the program. YMCA Dance Set Nov. 10 The Lake Region YMCA Junior high dance will be held Nov. 10at the Lakewood village hall, 2500 Lake avenue, Crystal Lake. Doors open at 7:10 p.m. and youth, once inside the hall, are required to remain there until 10 p.m. unless an adult comes inside to pick than up. Youth are asked to wear appropriate school clothes. Supervision is provided by volunteer parents and in terested adults. The hall is well lighted. Parents of participants are asked to see that their children are picked < up promptly at 10 p.m. and not allowed to wander around in the area without tran sportation. -* -*• « - Refreshments are served free of charge by volunteer youth. Participants also set up and clean up the hall. Dances are free to YMCA members and there is a small per evening charge to non-members. Additonal information is available by contacting the Lake Region YMCA, 95 Grant street in Crystal Lake. •<hip Raising Event Nov. 11 "Come to the Cabaret" is the theme of this year's fifth an nual scholarship fund raising dinner party presented by the Woman's Club of Wonder Lake. The event will be held at the McHenry Country club Nov. 11, with cocktails served at 7 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 8 p.m. Among the many activities scheduled for the evening are the awarding of the two $250 scholarships. The applicants are judged anonymously by Mr. and Mrs. William Schuette of Greenwood, Robert Bright of Wonder Lake and Mrs. Nelson Stork of Woodstock. On stage will be Barb Britt, from Woodstock, a singer with ambitions of entering the en tertainment field. She will open the show singing "Come to the Cabaret".
