PISTAKEE HIGHLANDS Bobbie Fantus 497-3509 Many Projects Discussed At Board Meeting The Pistakee Highlands Board of Directors met on Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The following officers were present: Jim Fantus, Herb Steward, Harold Bichler, John Heidler, Mae Kolb, Bobbie Fantus, Archie Fletcher and Roger Christianson. ting an executive trustee to oversee all other trustees. Herb Steward volunteered for the position and will be responsible for seeing that trustees welcome new residents, in­ forming them of the association, payment of dues and presenting them with a copy of the by-laws. Also he will hold the key to the safe deposit box containing insurance policies and charters of the association. The next order of business was to put a parking lot ad­ joining the community center on the east side of the building. This will be done as soon as formal bids are received and selected. Vehicle stickers were discussed briefly •« and distributed to officers who had not received them at this time. Officers were reminded that stickers would not be available to un-paid members. Painting and repair work to the - community center was brought up and it was decided that money designated from the New Year's Eve party would be used for inside repairs on the kitchen and bar. All painting work will be done in spring on the exterior of the building and the interior of the building will have the words "PISTAKEE HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION" written in the front of the building. The meeting was adjourned by President Fantus at 8:30 pjn. WOMEN'S CLUB The ladies of Pistakee Highlands will hold their an­ nual mystery luncheon on Jan. 31. Ladies of other Women's Clubs will be invited for the event which will be at our community center at 12 noon. VEHICLE STICKERS Just a reminder that stickers are on sale from all officers and trustees of the association. Boat dock and beach area privileges depend on these stickers. Lists were given to all officers with instructions not to issue stickers to any un paid residents. GIRLSCOUTS The Girl Scouts are planning a rededication and initiation at their Jan. 29 meeting. Also the girls are looking forward to their annual cookie sale. They will be going door-to-door beginning Feb. 23 through March 3 taking orders. Their troop leaders have informed me that the tentative delivery date will be from April 2 to the 14. A fund drive will be held in March and the girls ask that everyone remember , to save special food coupons for the achievement group. ROAD IMPROVEMENT Some news on Bill 1440 or the Road Improvement program which High­ land residents partic­ ipated in by petitioning to have roads paved has come through. James Rakow, superintendant of McHenry County Highways, reported that out of 30 subdivisions that petitioned, 13 turned in com­ pleted forms. Richmond road, McHenry, is attending an air defense artillery officer qualification ^ course at the U.S. Army Air Defense school, Ft. Bliss, Tex. The nine-week course provides training in the operations and tactics of the Army's air defense weapons systems, which include the Nike Hercules, Hawk, Redeye, and Chaparral missiles as well as automatic weapons such as the Vulcan gun system. Navy Lieutenant Com­ mander Karl E. Tomm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl R. Tomm of 1211 W. River Terrace, McHenry, is in the Western Pacific aboard the nuclear- powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. Recently, the Big "E" made her first visit in four years to Hong Kong, where her crew spent seven days relaxing, shopping and enjoying the many exotic sites of this Crown Colony.
