But the creators of television detective heroes have only just begun to fight. On the horizon are at least four blacks, a private-eye woman, a one-armed-counter- bandit, a disbarred lawyer. 0tC* 0tc«i • • • • • IF YOU THINK you're not successful, you could be wrong. For a different per spective you might want to view ABC's documentary "Making Good in America," now scheduled for March 12. Howard K. Smith will nar rate as the show examines some American notions about what constitutes success. THE BIG NIELSENS have laid low another «ood TV show that should be a win ner, but will breathe its last on April 21. Julie Andrews will be replaced by "The Strauss Family" of musical fame. Miss Andrews might get a new try next fall. THE ULTIMATE TV crit icism, one supposes, is to refuse to own one of the hor rible things. There seem to be some of this vanishing breed still alive and kicking in America today. It is re ported that they are quite healthy, although one won ders how these media her mits get through the night. EDWARD P. FRENCH Edward P. French, 58, of 5314 N. The "beat Archie" show is call ed "Here We Go Again." It's about two divorced peo ple who get married and then move into the neighborhood where their ex-spouses live. The show's creator is Bob Kaufman, one of the fdnniest writers in the business. McHenry Savings' Garden Show To Introduce Peony McHenry County residents won'ttiave to go into Chicago to visit a flower show this week. Instead they can drop in at McHenry Savings and Loan Association (starting Thur sday, March 22), where a colorful "mini" garden in full bloom is on display in the lobby. Star attraction of the show is the new "Pride of McHenry" peony, developed by the Charles Klehm & Sons Nur series, Arlington Heights, well known originators and growers of peonies. It is presently available only at McHenry Savings, where customers can get one free by depositing $50.00 or more. To welcome the coming of spring, the Klehm Nurseries have created an imaginative flower show in the S&L lobby. The popular spring flowers are in bloom along with several trees. Also available to savers, according to Charles M. Adams, McHenry Savings president, area flowering crab, a sunburst honey locust and a Morheim blue spruce. These can be seen in the lobby. Adams invites everyone in the county to see the flower show during regular business hours. "Naturally there's no admission charge to our show," he says, "and there's no obligation. We just want everyone to get an early whiff of spring." Carl Klehm and other experts from his nursery will be in McHenry Savings' lobby this Saturday to help gardeners with their plant problems. The S&L is located at 1209 North Green Street, just south of Elm Street (Routes 31 & 120), in downtown McHenry. Adv.
