Past President, Doris Henken, told of the Past Presidents' meeting that was held at the home of Reba Owen, with eleven Past Presidents in attendance. The Past Presidents voted to send $10.00 to the Nurse's Scholarship Fund and $10.00 to the Veterans' Craft Exchange Maintenance Fund. Dottie Messer, Reba Owen, Pearl Cooper, Midge Scharf, Pauline Pickett, Lauretta Homo and Betty Lou Smith were selected to attend the Patriotic Conference that will be held on Thursday, April 5 at the Pick-Congress Hotel. Winners In Car Contest The McHenry Junior high school held a Model Car building contest last week with judges, trophies and prizes. The judges were Ms. Dorothy Ullrich, principal of Edgebrook Elementary school; Gary Fields, principal of McHenry high school, East campus ; Ms. Marilyn Muntz, counselor at McHenry high school, West campus; and David Utech, school psychologist for District 15. The four judges had ten points each per model and the winners were selected by adding the total number of points received. The grand champion of the contest was Gigi Smith. Kent Krueger and his brother, Kevin, tied for first place. The two second place winners were Bill Pinkonsly who was tied by his sister, Bonnie. Third place went to Rich Jacobson and Travis Jones. The winners of the models were Mike Becker, Dean Unger and Jerry Haines. Blue honorable mention ribbons went to Tom Sweeney, Roger Rouse, Phillip Kent, Bruce Sands, Rodney Rouse and Cindy Roemmelt. Other students who en tered the contest were Ed Chappel, Dennis Jeschke, Beth Solinski, Jerry Hutchinson, and Kevin Lane. Guest of honor, Mrs. Lola Reid of Minneapolis, Minn., spoke on only a few of the many stops she made while she was on a world tour. She was a guest of Madame Chiang Kai-shek and visited Greece and Ger many plus many other coun tries as representative of the Ladies auxiliary. Johnson, 315 Meridian, Crystal Lake, has resigned his appointment as a member of the Board of Review of McHenry county. He has served since February. 1971. Johnson and his wife are preparing to move their residence to Iowa and are looking forward to the peace of farm life. They have resided in Lakewood more than 20 years. His service has been unusual in that he had not accepted the compensation for the office authorized by the County board.
