Winning a three-year term were Barbara Pautz of Crystal Lake, high vote getter, with 3,333 votes; Herbert Lutter of Cary with 2,457 and Walter Turner of McHenry with 2,420. Others running for the three- year term were John Kise of Woodstock, 1,921 votes, and Earl Hermansen of Crystal Lake, 1,776. Thomas J. Leahy of Wood­ stock won his bid for the one- year term with the support of 2,594 voters. Kevin Michael of Crystal Lake received 1,720 votes. In Harrison school district, where there no contest. Henry Setzler and John Bazan were elected with votes of 50 each. CITY RECEIVES $3,693 IN TAX (Continued from page 1) Lake topped the cities with $6,992.95 and Woodstock was second with $4,917.81. Peggy was interested in art and music. Besides her parents, she is survived by four sisters, Sally Roth of Lewiston, N.Y., Dawn, attending Illinois Wesleyan university at Bloomington, 111., Jean and Julie at home. Her body will be donated to science. A memorial service will be held later at Zion Lutheran church. Ridge road, McHenry, was completely destroyed when fire swept through the building at 11:50 Sunday night. There was no estimate of damage. Lost in the blaze were two pedigreed dogs and a stock car. Bob Howe, a neighbor, noticed the fire and turned in the alarm^ bringing to the scene members of Companies I and II, McHenry township Fire Protection district, and firemen from Wonder Lake. They worked until 6:24 Monday morning to bring the flames under control. No cause of the fire has been determined. Mrs. Thompson lives in one of the homes on the farm and her daughter, Mrs. E. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Easter Services Climax Penitential Season Of Lent McHenry churches are making plans for Easter week rites marking the close of the penitential season and climaxed by the joyful celebration of Easter. ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC There will be low Masses at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Holy Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic church; also a Mass of Institution and procession at 7:30 in the evening. Adoration will con­ tinue until midnight and Friday morning. Scripture service is planned for noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Good Friday. There will be the solemn liturgy and Communion at 3 p.m. and Stations of the Cross at 7:30 in the evening. No morning or public devotions are planned Holy Saturday during the day. The solemn liturgy and blessings will start at 11:15 Saturday night, followed by the Mass of Easter at midnight. Sunday Masses will be at 6:30, 8, 9:30, 9:45, 10:45,11 and noon. FAITH PRESBYTERIAN There will be Maundv Thursday services of worship and the sacrament of Holy Communion at 7:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian church. The sermon topic will be "Father, Forgive Them" based on Luke 23:34. The choir will sing "Ave Verum" by Mozart. The Good Friday service at 7:30 will be a joint service at the First Baptist church. A sunrise service at 6.o'clock will be held Easter Sunday at 6 a.m., with the sacrament of Holy Communion followed by a light breakfast served by members of the Session. Church school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m. and the second service of worship will take place at 10:30. ZION LUTHERAN Maundy Thursday will mark the celebration of Christ's institution of the Last Supper at Zion Lutheran church, with special services of Holy Communion at 8 p.m. On Good Friday, from noon to 3 o'clock, there will be a prayer vigil. The Good Friday service will be in conjunction with two other churches at the First Baptist church. A sunrise service at Mc- Cracken field at 6:30 a.m. is planned Easter Sunday. In case of inclement weather it will be held in the church. Easter breakfast will be served in the church from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Worship services are at 9:30 and 11:15. There will be no Sunday School Easter Sunday. ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC A concelebrated Mass with procession will mark Holy Thursdav rites at St. Patrick's Catholic church at 8 p.m. Adoration will continue until midnight. The Good Friday liturgy will begin at 2 o'clock, followed at 3:15 by Stations of the Cross. The Easter vigil and Mass begins at 8 p.m. Holy Saturday. Sunday Masses will be at 7:15, 8:30,9:45 and 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. There will be an extra Mass in the church hall at 10 a.m. The sacrament of Penance is scheduled from 4 to 5:30 Thursday, 4 to 5:30 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. FIRST BAPTIST At the First Baptist church on Front street, there will be a joint service Good Friday in­ volving also Faith Presbyterian and the First United Methodist churches. The Rev. John Mclntyre of Faith church will preach and the Rev. Raymond White of the Methodist church and the Rev. Virgle Chappell of the Baptist church will participate. There will be a choir com­ posed of members of the three churches at this 7:30 o'clock evening rite. Angela Amici will be guest soloist for the 10:45 a.m. Easter Sunday morning service, for which the Rev. Chappell will- speak. In the evening, the choir will present a cantata, "Hallelujah What A Savior" at 6:30, followed one hour later by the young people's dramatic presentation, "Challenge of the Cross". ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL There will be Holy Eucharist at 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal church, followed by a coffee hour. At the same hour on Good Friday, the service will consist of Stations of the Cross. There will be Holy Eucharist at 8 and 10 a.m. Easter Sunday. SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS Special Holy Week services at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, will begin with a Maundy Thursday Communion service at 7:30 p.m. April 19. A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 20. The Tenebrae service will be a service of lights. At various points in the worship setting, lights in the sanctuary and candles on the altar will be extinguished so that at the end of the service the entire sanc­ tuary is in darkness. This is symbolic of the sin which caused darkness in the world and caused Christ to die on the cross to redeem mankind. On Easter morning, there will be an Easter sunrise Communion service at 6 a.m. An Easter morning communion service will be held at 8:30 a.m. and an Easter morning festival Comnflunion service at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Roger W. Schneider will speak on the topic, "Easter Forms a Life Style!" An Easter morning breakfast will be served after all three worship services that morning by the Luther league, or youth group at the church. An Easter lily cross built out of large timbers and flowers will adorn the sancturary for the Holy Week services. ALLIANCE BIBLE Youth of the Alliance Bible church, 3815 W. John street in McHenry, are sponsoring a Bible reading marathon. The reading will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, with the first versfc of the Bible. It is anticipated that the last verse will be read on Easter Sunday. Some thirty teens and young adults are scheduled to take part. The purpose of the marathon is to dramatize the Bible as God's revelation to man, and as the answer to man's most vital needs. It is planned that the reading of the Scriptures from cover to cover will take ap­ proximately 110 hours of continuous reading. Youth will read aloud for 15 minute in­ tervals. An adult sponsor will be present at all times for counseling in the Scriptures, and to help answer questions of any who might like to hear or participate in the Bible reading. Visitors are welcome to stop by at any time to hear the Bible read. Phone calls are also urged from those who might like to give en­ couragement, or from those who have spiritual needs. The phone number is 385-1519. Special requests for prayer may also be phoned in. Youth and adults will pray for all expressed needs. Refreshments for the youth will be provided by the young people themselves, as well as other interested individuals. Anyone wishing to help out should contact the pastor at the above number.
