. \ PAGE 6-PLAINDEALER-WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18, 1973 Warrior Varisty Beats Batavia 15-5 And 7-0 By Dick Rabbitt Coach Ken Swanson's McHenry Warriors tuning up for a big week of-bascball really unloaded the lumber Saturday by defeating Batavia in a double header. The scores were 15 to 5 and 7 to (). ~ In the opener the Warriors crossed the plate 7 times in the first inning while getting only 1 hit. From then on they managed to make their remaining 10 hits count as they chalked up 8 run's. The game was called after 6 innings due to the 10 run rule. Bob Dobbertin and Steve Himpelmann each had 2 hits. In the nightcap Kevin Worm pitched a 2 hit shutout as the Warriors won 7 to 0. The crafty little lefthander struck out 2 and walked 2. Worm has not allowed a run to score in his last 13 innings of pitching. Tom Knaack and Steve Himpelmann each had 2 hits. Himpelmann had 4 for 6 for the day and reached base 5 times in the twin bill. It must be noted that the Warrior schedule called for them to play 9 of their first 10 games on the road. However, they have already played 4 at home with more scheduled for this week. Credit for the ex cellent condition of McCracken field must be given to Bill Kreutzer and Wally Coari. The playing conditions of McCracken field are the envy of every coach who comes to McHenry, and the gentlemen named above are the ones responsible for it. A tip of the old fedora to Bill and Wally from the Warrior baseball staff.
