Main, McHenry 815 385 7661 Clipped Wings Members Hostesses For Benefit Teen-Age Pageant Easter Bunnies Visit 'Squares' Two bunnies, attired in their Easter finery, wandered shyly in out of the rain into the gym of Edgebrook school Saturday night, April 21, and much ^to their surprise, accepted an invitation to dance with the Checkerboard Squares. After two dances, they disappeared as mysteriously as they had come, no doubt returning to their Easter eve duties. Members can now receive a badge for having danced with the Easter bunnie. An egghead badge is also available to those who passed an Easter egg through the square while dancing. A special guest of the evening was Russell Roegner of the Decatur Wranglers, who is Norma Wacasar's father. Reservations should be made early for the club dinner dance May 19. Prizes were awarded last Saturday to Norma and Check Wacasar, Diane and Bob Fuhler, Vivian and Bob Koch, and Doris and Walt Low. their annual all day Easter gathering Sunday. The O'Hare chapter of Clipped Wings is hostessing its fourth annual champagne reception for Countryside Center for the Handicapped Sunday afternoon, April 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. The afternoon will be highlighted by the presentation of a check representing the proceeds from Clipped Wings dinner benefit which was held in February to help equip the center's multi purpose room. The center, begun by a group of parents in 1954, is fully licensed by the state and serves the northwest suburbs through a day school program, a rehabilitation workshop and an evaluation and rehabilitation service. The O'Hare chapter of Clipped Wings, a group of former United Air Lines and Capital stewardesses, is now in its fourth year of providing financial and volunteer help to the center. Champagne and an elegant array of hors d'oeuvres created from recipes collected from all parts of the country by the ex-stewardesses will be served during the two-hour afternoon reception. Miss Illinois Teen-Ager pageant has been set for June 1, 1973. Any in terested young ladies desiring to enter this year's pageant may obtain applications from the^ Official Certification office at 126 Bunn drive, Rockton, Illinois 61072. The annual event will be held July 6 and 7 at the Conrad Hilton in Chicago. The IUinois pageant is open to all girls residing in the state between the ages of 13 and 17 regardless of race, creed or color. Judging will be based on scholastic achievements, civic contributions, poise, per sonality and appearance. There is no talent or swim suit competition involved. Currently holding the title of Miss Illinois Teen-Ager 1972 is Miss Cindy Phillips from Danville. The Illinois' state pageant is a preliminary to the National Teen-Ager Pageant finals. A bonafide state pageant is held in fifty states as well as the Distric of Columbus. Each state winner then goes on to participate in the national finals held in Atlanta, Ga., and receives an all-expense paid six day trip with various tours of points of interest, etc. Miss Sharon McLartv of Amory, Miss, is current Miss National Teen Ager 1972. Each state winner receives a $750 scholarship to Massey Junior college in Atlanta, Ga., with first runner-up receiving a $500 scholarship and second runner- up receiving a $250 scholarship to the same school. Judges names to date are Mr. Harold E. Higgins, executive secretary of the Rotary club of Chicago, and Miss Paulette Jane Audas, former Miss Illinois Teen Ager 1970-71. State contestants are required to write an essay on "What's Right About America" to be presented at the state finals and awards are given to the essay winner and two runners-up.
