Twas a wet, wet night and only a small group turned out to the regular Checkerboard Dance but those who missed coming to the dance missed out on seeing the Bunnies. They were the cutest Bunnies ever portrayed by Bob and Viv Koch. Some of the new members earned a Bunny badge by dancing with the Bunnies. Wednesday of last week found the Lehmkuhls traveling to Chicago on the train that travels behind their house very day. This was a treat for the kids as they hadn't ridden a train before. Also they spent their time in Chicago at the Art Museum which they found very interesting. VACATIONERS This past week has seen many vacationers in the neigh borhood, including Ken and Judy Beck, and children Kenny and Pennv. and cousin Juanita Ackerman. All were happy in "Happiness is" and the Charles Ackermans and kids and cousins Craig and Christal in the new "Bigger Luv Bug". They all went to Park City, Ky., and to the many caves that the state has to offer. Mostly the Mammoth Caves. They had very good weather, in the 80's. Would you believe Bev has a sun burned nose and Ken and Kenny are just plain sun burned. But they enjoyed ex ploring caves, and being scared plum out of their wits. I heard! Still and all a good time was had by all. FISHERMEN The fisherman's life for me was not the song that you heard sung when Clayton Bruce and Delmar Shook of Woodstock returned home from Kentucky Lake, Kentucky, and Reel Foot Lake, Tenn. They said that they couldn't find Reel Foot at first because there was so much water. So there will not be a fish fry to be invited to this week. Maybe if all the water goes down they will try again and we will all be invited to Clayt's. (WE hope) TRAVELERS Mabel Hawley and grandson, Gary Rienwall, of McHenry flew to Florida for the week before Easter to spend it with daughter, Shirley Woodward, and family. They arrived home on Easter Sunday. Jackie and Dick Crosby and s children spent the later part of" Easter with their parents near Macomb. They arrivied home on Monday after Easter. Patti and Dave Miller and Tricia and Jay Sayler of McHenry spent Easter weekend in Florida and Andros Island. While in Florida Patti and Dave visited with his mom in Pompano Beach. The Art Christopher family left on Friday to spend the Easter weekend with Art's family up north. The Larry Lehmkuhl family left Friday in their mobil home for a weekend traveling thorough Door County. It was sort of a wet weekend with all the rain but was beautiful on Sunday. EASTER VISITORS Carol and Bob Borchart and son, Charile, spent Easter Sunday with Bob's parents, the Ferdinand Borcharts, in McHenry. The grandparents had a big Egg hunt for their eight grandchildren. They had so much fun that the kids had someone hide the eggs four times for them. Tom and Maya Walkington of Macomb came home to see Pa and Ma Walkington on Friday for the Easter weekend. Easter dinner guests were also Clarence and Ida Mae Adams and boys of Wonder Lake. Mom Miller (Judy Rich's mom) of Wilmette had her whole family for Easter Sunday dinner and an Easter Egg hunt for the children. There were fifteen kids in all, including the six Rich children. "Matter Of Goodwill" Sets Theme For Week "A Matter of Goodwill - Helping the Handicapped Help themselves," is the 1973 theme of National Goodwill Week, an annual event sponsored by Goodwill Industries of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin as well as 151 other major cities in the United States. This non-profit organization directs its total effort toward helping handicapped people fulfill their individual roles in today's society - evaluating and training those with physical impairments or mental han dicaps that limit their job potential, and offering coun seling, guidance and job ex perience and placement. Goodwill has grown to serve over 25,000 people each day, men and women of all ages, abilities and walks of life, enabling many of them to become self-supporting, regain their self-respect and face the world despite their handicaps. Many financial contributions, business contracts, and surplus items were awarded Goodwill during the past year, in ad dition to over 370 million pounds of clothing. A major portion of the total income was derived from the sale of these items and enabled Goodwill to pay over $70 million in wages last year while training productive citizens for em ployment in private industry. Goodwill Week is sponsored by all of the Goodwill Industries throughout the nation to bring about greater public awareness of the many ways in which the individual can support the work of Goodwill. "By donating usable items, by shopping at Goodwill, and by contributing financially," stated Norman K. Dasenbrook, executive director of Goodwill for this area, "everyone in our community can share in the accomplishment of our goal to 'Helping the Handicapped Help Themselves' ". For more information about Goodwill Industries and pickup arrangements, contact Mrs. Nick (Agnes) Adams, local representative. Safety Glasses Are Necessary For Eyeglass Wearers Every person who wears eyeglasses or sunglasses - with or without correction - needs safety glasses, according to the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. Children, particularly because of the vigorous life they lead, are susceptible to eye accidents. Wearing safety glasses will help save young eyes, as well as eliminate the annoyance and cost of broken lenses. Industrial type safety eyewear with non corrective lenses are a must for all students in school shops and laboratories. Anyone who operates power lawn mowers, power tools, pruning shears, spray equipment, or other tools likely to cause flying debris should insist on complete eye protection. MAC DONALD h MERCURY!
