Spring Grove Eva Freund 675-2135 Install Lotus Club Officers , The Lotus Country Woman's club held its recent meeting in the Town hall. Kay Smith was hostess chairman. A surprise luncheon was served in four courses in a crazy, mixed up way. One never knew what each course would be or what it would consist of as menus were printed up with clues only. My first course was a radish, soup, a fork and water; some received their dessert first. It was a lot of fun and we had many laughs. Twenty-four members and four guests were present. Corresponding secretary read thank-you notes and thanks were expressed by members who had been ill. An announcement was made that the convention would be May 15, 16 and 17 at the Pick- Congress hotel in Chicago. Reservations were taken for a luncheon at Floyd's on May 16, at which time there will be installation of officers. New officers are President Pauline Horak, Vice-President Veronica "Tippy" Klein, Secretary Eva Freund and Treasurer Kay Smith. Seven new members were initiated and Tippy Klein conducted the ceremony. Holding lighted candles, they all pledged to assist in furthering the in terests of the club and the good will of the community. A short history was given. The club was organized in 1911 and was affiliated with the District Federation of Woman's Clubs and the Illinois Federation since 1912 and the County Federation since 1923. There were twelve members and Mrs. Ethlyn Hatch was the first president. The club has done many good, charitable deeds. Motto is "Not for our selves alone". The flower "Lotus" is rare and yet some still grow in Grass lake. COAST TO CMS! STORES M M M total hardware SAVES2 on Scotts weed-n-feed Pius?
