Mr. and Mrs. Huppy Schoewer of River Forest were Sunday visitors in the Fred Schoewer home. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Phalin entertained at a family gathering recently with twenty- two folks present from Holland, Mich., Cary, Crystal Lake and McHenry. Mrs. Mabel Knowles has returned from St. Louis, where she spent a few days in the home of a granddaughter. Mrs. Carl Rietesel and son, Byron, have returned from a visit with her mother, Mrs. Ella Newman, and found her nicely situated in the Western Oaks Nursing home, 7500 Northwest 23rd street, Bethany, Okla., where she would be glad to hear from old friends. Miss Beth Keefe of Long Island, N.Y., and Daniel and Chris Christenson of Kingman, Alberta, Canada, visited their aunt, Mrs. LeRoy Smith, last week. Mrs. Bruce Godar and daughter, Penny, of LaGrange Park were Wednesday visitors in the Robert Thompson home. A human being weighing 150 pounds contains enough fat for 7 average sized cakes of soap, enough carbon for 8,000 pencils, enough phosphorus for 2,500 matches, enough iron to make one 8-penny nail, enough lime to whitewash 8 feet of board fence, and enough water to fill a 10 gallon jar. To a botanist, strawberries, apricots, apples, raspberries, peaches and cherries are all members of the rose family. Baptists have of saying they care for the shut-ins and other people who just can't make it to the church building. These cassettes are for people of all faiths. They are loaned free of charge and a person doesn't have to be a member of the church to take advantage of this ministry. The church has purchased a limited number of players which are also loaned to those who may need one. There are tapes of the Sunday morning worship services, Jesus Rallys and special music. A team has been organized that delivers and picks up the tapes and players. Anyone interested in this ministry which is being offered to the community and surrounding area should call the First Baptist church. 1210 N. Green 385-1000 Taping of all worship services is a new part of the ministry of First Baptist church of McHenry. Directing the program is Mrs. Paul Anderson and assisting her is the Rev. Kenneth Short, assistant pastor. The church makes these tapes available on loan to anyone wishing to participate in the program. Call the First Baptist church of McHenry. Church Offers Tape Ministry In a society- that is mechanized, computorized, transistorized and instantized, it had to happen and the First Baptist church of McHenry is in the middle of a tape ministry. Informed sources say this doesn't mean that members can sleep late on Sunday morning and then send for a tape to see if the minister has bad-mouthed them for not being in their pew on Sunday morning.
