Do a good deed and ask if anyone would like their grass cut. Or perhaps offer a ride to town for shop ping. There are many people who are not as aggressive as their neighbor and need to know that they can always get some help from their com munity friends. Your volunteer time at community social activities is also welcomed. Make a move to attend the Ladies Club, the Association, or the glass collection. Your new interest could help your subdivision to grow. Most important is your own personal service to keep your property appearance at its best. Unsightly weeds along the roads and overgrown grass should be maintained. If you need help ask your neighbor. Let's all make West Shore Beach a proud community. LADIES CLUB The West Shore Beach Women's auxiliary will hold its next meeting at Marie Wegner's on June 7 at 7:30 p.m. Please come to join in some community social activity. PROPERTY OWNERS The association meeting for June will be held at the beach at 4:30 p.m. It is always the second Saturday of the month, June 9. Make plans to attend now as an important order of business will definitely be discussed. 'Tires Tell Safety Story": Insurance Men Read any good tires lately? This is a serious question being asked by the McHenry County Association of Independent Insurance Agents and the Consumers Insurance In formation bureau. It is aimed at calling the attention of motorists to proper tire pur chase and care during the hot weather driving months. "There is a lot more in formation on the sidewall of tires today than just the manufacturer's- name and size," said Bob Morteil of McHenry, president of the McHenry County Association of Independent Insurance Agents. "Federal regulations require that each tire show con struction, including plies and cord material, maximum pressure and load, and a code number showing who made it, where and when." "Also shown is the imprint DOT which shows that the tire was made in conformity with Department of Transportation specifications and meets the requirements of the federal government for its type," he added. Morteil noted, however, that in the purchase of new tires a consumer's best protection is still to deal with a reputable dealer who will explain the full meaning of the information and advise on the best tire buy for motorist's driving needs. "After purchase, though, there is a lot more information a tire can give the alert driver, if he pays attention," he continued. "The manner in which the tire wears can tell you whether you are carrying the proper pressure, the wheels are aligned and balanced, the brakes and shock absorbers are in good order." Citing a recent Department of Transportation publication, the insurance agent spokesman gave some tips for longer tire life: - Buy a good tire gauge, don't rely on the accuracy of service station pump gauges. - Check your tire pressure at least once a mpnth when the tires are cold. - Don't overload or un- derinflate your tires. Check your owner's manual for recommended pressure for different loads. - If you check your tires when hot, never bleed off excess pressure. When the tires cool they may be underinflated. - Check your spare tire too. Don't pay a tow charge when a little free air will do. - Rotate your tires regularly. The owner's manual will tell you how and when. - Learn the feel of your tires when they are "right" so you can quickly recognize something "wrong". McCullom Lake Gerry Milbratz 385-8543 Urgent Need For Help With Little League Operation There is still a need for help with the Little League. The first two meetings were very poorly attended, and not enough people showed up to even elect new officers for this year. So far, there are two managers, Bob Kamin and Mark Hansen.
