UkLi^4U*ULJi>JLUJULJUIJLIJUT Q. How can I remove slight scratches from plate glass? A. First rub with a pad of cotton wool. Then cover the pad with a layer of cotton velvet well charged with fine jeweler's rouge, and this when rubbed over the surface of the glass will not only remove the scratches, but will add a luster. Q. How can I clean a white felt hat? A. Use a mixture of one part of cornmeal, one cup of salt, ( and one cup of flour. Cover the hat with this, allow to stand for about 24 hours, then brush off. This incidentally will clean only soil -- not stains. Q. How can 1 insure - tenderness in meat after boiling it? A. Adding a teaspoon of lemon juice to the water in which the meat is boiled usually helps. Q. How can I clean shellacked wood floors? A. These must be kept scrupulously waxed, or spilled water will leave white spots and blotches. Wipe up im mediately if water is spilled. If soiled, clean with a cloth moistened with alcohol, or with a mixture of turpentine and alcohol (equal parts). Rub lightly, or you might take up the shellac. Q. How can I preserve soft rubber goods? A. Suspend these articles, or rest them on a rack, several inches from the bottom of their enclosure, in which place a small quantity of kerosene. The vapor will prevent cracking without injuring the rubber. Q. What is the easiest way to apply enamel over enamel without its running all over9 A. By adding a little corn starch to your enamel.
