Also, our congratulations to four year old, Doug MacKay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave MacKay, who was named Little Mr. Wonder Lake. FRESH VEGETABLES For those mothers who would try anything to get their kids to eat vegetables. I think I've found a way - plant a garden. Our 8 year old Dan, who gags when you place a vegetable anywhere near his plate, has been eating more fresh peas (he even likes the pods) out of the garden than I've been able to freeze. We still can't con vince him that cooked peas are just as tasty, but for at least a few weeks he's getting more than his share of fresh vegetables. And next week the green beans will be ripe! VACATIONERS Ken and Joan Scheib and sons, Mark, Dana and Kurt, chose to spend a part of their vacation touring the House on the Rock and the Cave of fhe Mounds in Wisconsin and last Thursday they took in the Cubs game at Wrigley Field, wat ching the Phillies wallop the Cubs, 7-4. Chuckie will be five years old and is quite excited about taking swimming lessons for the first time and is looking forward to starting kin dergarten in the fall. Happy days to you all. SUMMER TRAFFIC Summertime in Wonder Lake - and everytime I drive "downtown" and back, I long for the city-type convenience of sidewalks and wish our society were advanced enough to build bike trails a safe distance off the roads - and I say a quick prayer that the pedestrians jvalking on the roads and the bicyclists riding in thefmiddle of the road and the' person behind the wheel of my car - will all make it back to our own homes - safely. Unfortunately, it seems that when I slow down or stop to avoid hitting the people walking and bicycling, they are usually completely unaware that the roads are for any other use than their own. St. Christopher, come back, we need you more now than ever before!
