Lily Lake residents were sorry this week to learn of the death of Rocco Paris, 37, owner of Rocky's tavern. He passed away Aug. 19. A picnic for Holstein breeders of Illinois will be held Aug. 24 at Hickory Creek farm at McHenry. Hickory Creek farms are owned by Frank Howard, president of the Howard Foundry Co. of Chicago and the home of the famous "Twenty Grand" bull purchased for $19,500 at the recent Buth Dispersal sale. Announcement has been made by Mr. and Mrs. Orville M. Kerns of Woodstock of the engagement of their daughter, Marilyn Jeanne, to John L. (Jack) Phalin of McHenry. In a simple nuptial service performed in the parsonage of the Lutheran church in Union Grove, Wis., Aug. 16, Mrs. Agnes Lewis was married to Mr. Fred Bienapfl. Hie couple will make their home on Green street in the home built recently by Mr. Bienapfl. McHenry firends of Rev. Fr. Edward Berthold, former pastor of St. Mary's church here, will be interested to learn that he will celebrate his golden jubilee in Aurora at a special Mass to be said on Sept. 7. Frames, which resulted from an undetermined origin in the main barn at Frank Howard's Hickory Creek Farm at Mc- Cullom Lake on Wednesday morning of this week, leveled the newly remodelled structure to the ground. Miss Jean Derrick, who arrived in the United States from England three weeks ago to become the bride of Robert Adams some time in August, was honored at a bridal shower in Elgin one evening. The former Nett garage building in Spring Grove now owned by Paul Weber is beine remodelled for a motion picture theatre. Miss Doris Franks of Chicago will manage the theatre.
