Lakeland Park 385-6448J i ANNE MOORE Health Department Clears Beaches For Swimming As I am writing this column we have received word from the county health department that the McCullom Lake water is satisfactory for swimming. The water will be checked from time to time and I will keep you informed on its condition. Meantime, have fun swim­ ming and let's remember to keep our beaches clean! SWIMMING CLASS REGISTRATION The dates for registration for the Red Cross swimming in­ struction are Tuesday, July 17, and Wednesday, July 18, at the home of Mrs. Carol Humann, 5003 West Willow Lane. A parent or guardian must accompany the child to sign registration papers. Mrs. Humann asks you to come to her home between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. If these dates are not convenient, please phone her and she will arrange an alternate appointment for you. The swimming'lessons will be held at West Beach from July 30 through August 10, assuming the water remains satisfactory. Rain dates will be announced as needed. Children enrolling in the classes must be between the ages of five and 16 on or before Dec. 1, 1973. For further information phone Mrs. Humann, 385-1605. TWIN LAKES WEDDING July 7 was a very happy day for Tom Bockman and Michele Fitzgerald. They were united in marriage at a ceremony in Twin Lakes, Wis. A reception for 200 guests followed the service at the bride's parents' home. In addition to his parents, Tom's brothers David, who is home on leave from Camp Hill, Ogden, Utah, and Gary were there and were members of the wedding party. David returns to Camp Hill Sunday. Tom and Michele had a short honeymoon trip and will reside in Ogden, Utah, also. Everyone had a wonderful time and our congratulations to the newlyweds, Tom and Michele! VISITING RELATIVES John, Sharon and Jay Gacek had a busy week recently when Sharon's brother Dennis, and his wife, Bernice, were visiting with them. Everyone had a good time swimming, fishing and just relaxing and enjoying the good weather. While John was slaving at work they all visited Galena for a day and enjoyed themselves. They toured Grant's home and found the cemeteries in­ teresting among the many other sights they visited. On the Fourth of July they all had a relaxing day and Stan Wrona and his daughter, Alysia, joined them for a cookout. All in all it was a busy week for the Gacek family! WITH SYMPATHY Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the Erb family on the loss of their son, Jerry. Jerry, 22, was killed in a motorcycle accident July 3. In addition to his family in Lakeland Park he leaves his wife, Judy, and son, Jerry, of Wonder Lake. Our condolences are ex­ tended to the family of Minnie D. Tomlin. They visited Helen's son, Wayne, and his wife, Cathy, in Opa-locka, Fla., and saw Helen's three granddaughters graduate from Carol City high at graduation exercises held at the Miami Auditorium. The girls, Cinda, and twins, Katherine and Katheleen, were pleased their grandmother was on hand for their big day. From Opa-locka Helen and Lyda spent a week at Ft. Lauderdale where they also had a good time visiting with friends, the Randalls. On their return trip home they con­ tinued up to St. Joseph, Mich., where they visited with Mrs. Pitlik for a couple of days. Helen said that in spite of the hot and humid weather they had a wonderful trip! CONGRATULATIONS! Our congratulations to Hollis Ann Koehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koehl, and Patrick D. Arnold on their recent engagement. The couple is planning a winter wedding at Faith Presbyterian church. Happy birthday to you all! We hope all your birthdays will be happy ones! BABY SHOWER Shirley Hutt was recently very happily surprised when she attended a demonstration at our community house. The demonstration turned out to be a surprise baby shower where Shirley received many lovely and practical gifts. The shower was given by Arlys Folz, Sharon Wohlert and Judy Pedersen. Approximately thirty guests attended and when they saw Shirley cry at the surprise it started a chain reaction and she almost had everyone crying with her! Shirley and her husband, Robert, are expecting their fifth child early next month and their children, Bobby, Gail, Steven and Jackie, are anxiously waiting for the new arrival. Sunday. June 24, was indee a happy day for Shirley Hujft and I wonder if she ever will s< a demonstration.! FOND DU LAC VACATION Tony and Ceil Serritella and family just returned from a ten day camping trip to Fond du Lac, Wis. Fond du Lac is located on Lake Winnebago so they all enjoyed themselves camping, fishing, swimming and just doing new things. Ceil was there with the children for a week and when Tony joined them he brought along David Ackeret who thoroughly en­ joyed himself, as did the Seritellas. TROOP 320 NEWS Eighteen girls from Troop 320 had a very enjoyable day at Santa's Village last month. Leaders Penny Treadwell and Norma Lenz and mothers, Mary Ackeret, Carol Humann, and Marilyn Drake drove the girls and they too enjoyed the outing. They left around 10:30 a.m. and returned around 4:30 p.m. The girls had a marvelous time even though a couple of them found one of the rides a little too much! They seemed to survive and had fun on all the other rides. It was a fun day for the girls of Troop 320! SURPRISE VISITS Last week we had a fun week due to surprise visits from some friends we hadn't seen for some time. I.
