In addition to meeting two- year-old Dana Ann, Ed and Kay were happy to see their other grandchildren, David, Doneen and Dennis. Kay said the trip was an impossible dream come true! ALL BETTER NOW No sooner did Ed and Kay Druml leave for Hawaii when (heir little three-year-old granddaughter, Michelle, took a bad fall that resulted in a fractured skull. Michelle, daughter of Dennis and Janice Druml, spent three days in McHenry hospital and had to be watched closely for another ten days. Mom and Dad are happy that she is doing fine now. Dennis just had a week's vacation and they all visited Six Flaggs where they spent three days enjoying all the at tractions It was a nice way for Michelle to know she is well again! ATTENDED ORIENTATION Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Bottari and their daughter, Elaine, attended the orientation program at Bradley Univer sity. Elaine, one of the in coming students who enjoyed the special three days series of programs, will begin studies at Bradley on August 30. She will major in speech and audio pathology. HAMIL-JOHNSON VOWS My apologies to the Edward Johnson and Pete Hamil families on my failure to mention Tom and Vicki's wedding. Had the "tip" but was unable to follow it through! The young couple was united in marriage Saturday, June 23, at the evening service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church after which a reception followed at the Community House. Tom and Vicki Hamil are now on their honeymoon trip through Europe. Our belated congratulations to the happy couple! BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Stephanie Rae Worth won't soon forget her fifth birthdav! She had two days of celebration, one of which was Sunday when the children at Sunday school at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church started the day by singing happy birthday to her. Her relatives got together j»n Sunday to celebrate also! (They all attended the Chicken\bar- becue at the city park, ate at the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, and of course viewed the Marine Festival parade. Those who enjoyed them selves along with in^ddition to her maternal grandparents were Dad and Mom, Jerry and Elaine, and sister Jennifer; Elaine's sister LaVerne Hagemann and two of her children, Becky and Mathew (dad and Scott were at a baseball game); Jerry's parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Worth and Jerry's sister Susan and her fiance. On Monday, July 16, which is actually Stephanie's birthday, Susan and Patti Treadwell and my son Kevin joined Stephanie and Jenny for lunch after which birthday goodies were served. Everyone had a good time and Stephanie received some nice presents. Hope all her birthdays are as happy and exiciting as this one was!! SOURTHERN VACATION Mr. and Mrs. Arbie Hoard recently spent nine days away that took them to points south. They spent tim? in Florida and among the many sights they visited were Disney World and Silver Springs. They then drove to Lookout Mountain in Ten nessee and visited the Grand ole Opry in Nashville. They had a very nice trip and enjoyed traveling a new direction this year! LOTS TO BE MOWED I've had a few phone calls about when the vacant lots would be mowed as the pest situation at some residences is getting serious. It seems cats are breeding on some lots and one Tom cat clawed its way into a little girl's bedroom. For tunately, the family owns a dog and no harm was done to the baby. And, garden snakes, crickets and other insects are invading some homes. So, for those families concerned, here is what I have found out. The city will and is having the lots mowed. This is evident in <some sections of Lakeland Park. But, this year they started at a different area so for those of you who are worried it's been suggested that you be patient just a little longer. I'll check on this problem from time to time and will report any changes. RESORT VACATION Elwood and Wilma Crane just returned from a week's vacation at the Ozarks in Branson, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Wallwin of Round Lake accompanied them and they all had a relaxing time. While the men enjoyed the fishing, the ladies swam, played ping pong and shuffleboard. Elwood and Cliff managed to catch about ten rainbow fish so their efforts were not in vain. One interesting tljing they did one day was ter"tour a fish hatchery. Wilma said they all found the hatchery most in teresting and while in Branson they also visited two dams. The couples enjoyed their vacation in the Ozarks. BRIDAL SHOWER Sunday, July 1, ap proximately 45 women gathered at St. Mary's church hall to wish showers of hap piness for future bride Janice Pike, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pike. Janice, who will marry Neal Schmitt on Aug. 11, received many lovely gifts and everyone had an enjoyable time and , shared in her happiness. The shower was given by Patti Griffith and Danny Sch mitt, sisters of the groom-to-be. CANDLE OCCASIONS Pam Laursen and Holly Koehl share today for their birthdays and tomorrow Kathleen Jean Kreutz has her eleventh birthday! Rodney Emery and Sissie Grey blow out their candles on July 22 and Livestock Auction Is County Fair Highlight Excitement heightens when the McHenry County Fair livestock judging is completed and exhibitors look ahead to the annual 4-H and FFA livestock auction. This event provides an op portunity for McHenry county 4-H and FFA members who have exhibited in the 4-H and Junior show to sell sheep, sw ne and beef animals, and the widespread support of this event by businesses, industries, civic groups and individual citizens adds to the appeal. The McHenry County Fair opens Wednesday, Aug. 1, and livestock judging begins the first day. The 4-H and FFA livestock auction is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Don Hansen pavilion. This year's auction committee in- on the tweniy-third Michael Clark has his day!
