(DON PEASLEY PHOTO) McHenry Shores Mrs. Rose Lillegard (Business) 385-8500 Fund Raising Committee Plans Huge Garage Sale If any of you remember the affairs that we used to run to raise funds for the old McHenry Shores club, then you also remember the hard work that was involved. We hasten to assure you that we have no such plans at present. The first event on our agenda is a village wide garage and bake sale. We are hoping to receive at least ONE item from every home in the village, more if you have them. We also hope that many of you gals will donate some baked goods. We have had the pleasure of tasting the goodies from some of you and know how delicious they are. So, we are anticipating lots of help from you in this way. There will be good publicity of this event through the press and local radio. Therefore, we are expecting a big turnout of people. Also, let's have a big turnout of items to sell. If you have any questions, just call Gerry at 385-2358, or Agnes at 385-5557. The date will be sometime late in August, exact date and time to be announced later. The sale will be held at 605 S. Meadow Road, and we are also planning a surprise on the last day of the sale, so watch for the dates antl start those items coming in. The only thing we cannot handle is clothing, as with such a big sale, it will be difficult to check on sizes, etc. The proceeds from this event, will go into the village general fund, to be used by the village officials to obtain eqflipment for maintenance of the village. We need your help - don't let us down. Thank you. Co-Chairladies - Gerry Olbinski and Agnes Schweikert BOARD MEETING JULY 12 Clerk Lillegard presented bills for payment from the general fund in the amount of $173.80 and in the MFT Fund $350. All bills were approved for payment. In further action the board passed a resolution to comply with the MFT requirements for the spending of MFT funds. The resolution allocates $5,048 for ditching, snow plowing and salting, and mowing of the right of ways. WEED CUTTING Further action was taken on the weed cutting. Due ™ the height of the weeds they can no longer be cut with the sickle bar. Road Commissioner Sam Ziemet was directed by the board to secure the rental of a rotor blade and tractor to be used to mow the weeds. Sam Ziemet reported that he had investigated this alternative and informed the board that it would be possible starting Thursday, July 19. PUBLIC HEARING Zoning Commissioner Earl Buck reminded the board that the proposed zoning ordinance for the village will have its public hearing July 28 at 605 S. Here & There li BUSINESS Bell Defends Rate Request In response to charges made July 13 during rate hearings held in Chicago by the Illinois Commerce commission, Illinois Bell made the following statement: "We've said it before and we'll say it again --Illinois Bell has requested increased rates only because its present ear nings are a threat to reliable telephone service...Given the choice, we believe most of our customers would rather pay a rate which insures good service than one which invites poor service".
