Pinecrest Golf Club To Host Its First Junior Tournament Pinecrest Golf and Country club in Huntley, 111., will host its first annual Pinecrest Junior Golf classic, in August, 1973. The 36 hole tournament will consist of 18 holes on Aug. 3 and 18 holes on Aug. 10. Male contestants over 15 years of age and under 20 years of age are eligible. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishes with medals being awarded to the fourth and fifth finishes. In addition, the three top con­ testants will be the guests of Pinecrest Golf and Country club during the Pinecrest Golf classic, a professional 18 hole tourney slated for Sept. 14, which will feature the 30 top professionals in the Illinois section of the PGA, plus 10 other professionals to be in­ vited from other parts of the country. Entry blanks for the Junior classic may be obtained from Pinecrest Golf and Country club, Box 612, Huntley, Illinois. Entries to be closed July 27, 1973. B. Brennan had a 3-run homer in the last of the seventh inning to win the game for Bavaria Haus. Bill had 4 hits in 4 at bats, and drove in 6 runs to move Bavaria into second place. In the second game, Het- termann's beat Old Bridge 12 to 9. B. Oeffling, W. Hiller, D. Bentz and R. Wakitsch had 3 hits apiece for Hettermann's. R. Soda and T. Spasavich had 2 hits apiece for Old Bridge. Then on Thursday, July 19 Teko's won their first game of the year as they swamped Carl's 18 to 4. C. Cermak, and T. Connors had 4 and 3 hits respectively for Teko's. D. Howe had 4 hits for Carl's. Fox Lake then beat Jake's in the second game 9 to 7. A. Gjertson and Magnuson had 2 hits apiece for the Merchants. B. Mauch had 3 hits for Jake's. This week's "Player of the Week" honors go to B. Brennan of Bavaria Haus. This week The Group bowed by scores of 17-9 and 18-3 to an overpowering Swanson offense. In the first game Swanson's held a 6-1 lead after 4 innings. However, Hank Miller started a rally for The Group with his second hit - a double - in the top of the fifth. Five runs scored to tie the score. In the sixth, The Group's McKenna led off with a home run followed by two more runs to put The Group ahead 9- 6. The bottom of the 6th saw the Chalet bat around while scoring 11 runs including Bill Rudolph's two-run homer - his second of the game. Rudolph and Gary Fields had 3 hits each for the winners while Hank Miller and John Finney had two hits apiece for The Group. Game two started where one left off as Swanson bats bombarded Group pitcher Sherbert for 7 runs in the 1st, 7 more in the second and 4 in the third. The winning pitcher was Tom Jacobsen. Bill Gleason was the losing pitcher. Jacobsen and Burke hit home runs for the Orioles. On Tuesday, July 17 the Mets had a big win over the Cubs. The final score was Mets 15 and the Cubs 1. At the end of the second inning the score was Mets 12 and the Cubs 1. Dale ITrhanski had 15 strikeouts in the game and held the Cubs to one run. K .C. Stahlman was the losing pitcher. On Wednesday, July 18 the Giants had a big win over the Sox. The final score was Giants 6 and the Sox 4. Knox was the winning pitcher and Ludwig was the losing pitcher. Bill Rowe and Tom Ludwie hit home runs for the Sox. Hromec hit a home run for the Giants. Thursday, July 19 the Cardinals had a big win over the Braves. The final score was Cardinals 17andthe Braves 7. Gilbertson was the winning pitcher and Brogan was the losing pitcher. Brogan hit 5 batters. Brogan and Gilbertson both had home runs. Friday, July 20 the Orioles had a big win over the Tigers, the final score being Orioles 12, Tigers 7. Starting pitcher for the Orioles was Burke, who was relieved by -; Burger, the winning pitcher. Mitch Przetacznik was the losing pitcher. Mark Snyder hit a home run, driving in two runs. On Sunday, July 22 the Orioles had a 5 to 1 win over the Mets. Winning pitcher for the Orioles was Jacobsen and the losing pitcher for the Mets was Joe Knaack. There was one including a 2B & HR (his 3rd of the night). Vic Freund and Gary Fields also hit safely 3 times while Randy Arseneau doubled twice for the Chalet. Leading the Group with 2 hits each were Hank Miller, McQueeny and Bow lens. In other games, Brake Parts defeated The Rusty Nail twice by scores of 9-4 and 5-1 as Don Prazak homered for the win­ ners. The meet starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will run all week. The McHenry team will play its game at 12:30 on Saturday.
