JOSEPH CRICK Church Will Honor Couple On Anniversary "For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer..." were the vows repeated sixty years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Crick in Greenville, Ky. Few couples ever hope to experience a half century together but for the Cricks, married Sept. 3, 1913,, this Monday marks a "half century plus 10". A dinner party in honor of the Cricks, who have lived in McHenry community more than thirty years,, will be held at the First Baptist church Saturday evening, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. The dinner is an ex pression of love and ap preciation to the couple by the membership of First Baptist church, but all friends are invited to attend the occasion. Persons coming to the dinner are asked to bring a food dish to add to the meal. Few married couples have had a greater influence for good upon the entire com munity than Mr. and Mrs. Family Picnic For Square Dance Club Soaring temperatures in no way lessened the fun at the Checkerboard Squares annual family picnic held Sunday, Aug. 26, in the McHenry city park. Members enjoyed the usual egg tossing and water filled balloon toss, in addition to square dancing. The Checkerboard Squares invite the public to attend their free dance at Edgebrook school Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8 to 11 p.m. Both beginners and regular dancers are invited. Club members say, "we guarantee you couldn't make a better choice, if it's fun, friends and a healthful activity you're looking for. Smith celebrated his ninety-third birthday with a party at his home, 3816 W. Main street, Monday. Aug. 27. Mr. Smith was the recipient of many gifts. Present were his wife, Anna; his daughter, Mrs. Don Fluger, and family, two sons. Harold W. Smith and family and Robert. Mr. Smith, a retired farm manager, has resided at his present address for the past twenty-three years. The main reunion dinner was held at the ranch home of their daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fry, near Sperry, Okla. Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. G.B. Fry of Sperry, Okla. There were many events to relate since the last reunion in Boise, Idaho, in 1970. Everyone enjoyed family films, games and tours in Tulsa and vicinity to museums and other points of interest. Many remained the week following the reunion to enjoy visiting and touring. The family awaits another reunion in 1976. County N.O.W. Observes Suffrage Anniversary Crick. "Our entire church family look upon the Cricks as our parents or grandparents. They have been a constant inspiration to us in their faith fulness and dependability", was the statement of Pastor Virgle Chappell. The honored couple has been a part of the First Baptist church mem bership almost since its beginning. Family members joining Mr. and Mrs. Crick on this special occasion include Joseph Crick, a son, of Shreveport, La; Mrs. Mildred Gibson, a daughter, of Harrisburg, 111., and Mrs. Wanda Senter, a daughter, of McHenry. The family ex perienced sorrow this year in the death of a third daughter, Mrs. Nell Abney, of McHenry. The Cricks enjoy six grand children, five great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. Members of the McHenry county chapter, National Organization for Women, commemorated the fifty-third anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution this past Sunday. Approximately twenty-five women, men and children were on hand for a ceremonial march in the square in Woodstock. The 19th Amendment provided women with the right to vote. The demonstration was in keeping with nation-wide action by the National Organization for Women on behalf of Ratifying the Equal Rights amendment, which is still pending before twenty state legislatures. "Our objective is carrying on the tradition of the Suffragettes during the early part of this State Legislature," said Judith Longmeyer, president of the McHenry County Chapter of NOW. Earlier in the week, Governor Dan Walker proclaimed Aug. 26 as Equal Rights day in Illinois. In his proclamation the Governor noted that passage of ERA. would be a major legal step toward assuring first class citizenship to women and equal treatment for both sexes under the law. Father Regnier officiated at the 3 o'clock nuptial rite. Miss Watermann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Watermann of 441 Washington street, Woodstock. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Freund of 3017 W. Crescent avenue, McHenry. Two arrangements of flowers were placed on the side of the altar and there was a large arrangement on the altar table. The radiant bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a white silk organza gown featuring a high neckline and short lace sleeves. The natural waistline was accented by a draped sash and the bodice had a reembroidered alencon lace capelet. The A-line skirt featured a flowing cathedral length train at the back of the gown, with a reembroidered alencon lace edged hemline. Theface-framer headpiece was of reembroidered lace of the same type in petal form, with a four-tiered short veil. She carried a bouquet arranged in cascade effect, with phale anopsis, orchids, stephanotis, pink baby's breath, carnations and white roses. Attending her was Karla Jo Watermann of Milwaukee, Wis., her twin sister, as maid of honor. The attendants were attired in pink dresses with pink and green plaid skirts and solid pink empire bodices featuring cut-away sleeves and open back jackets with long sleeves of the same plaid, in voile. Their headpieces were pink with clusters of flowers and steamers hanging down the sides, ending in a small flower. Each wore a jade pendant, a gift of the bride. Thomas Mueller of Gilman, 111., a fraternity brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Gary Tagmier of Lyons, 111., and Ray Mathis of St. Petersburg, Fla., also fraternity brothers, Michael Dorsey of McHenry and Donald Vyvermann of Washington, 111., both brothers- in-law. Jeffrey Kalaman of Yardley, Pa., godson of the bride, was ring bearer. Mrs. Watermann chose for her daughter's wedding a floor length dress in light pink, with jacket. She wore rose-colored accessories. Mrs. Freund was attired in a light green, floor length dress with which she wore white accessories. A reception for about 200 guests followed at the Timbers in Woodstock. Mrs. Josephine Cox and Mrs. Ida Carlson, aunts of the bride, cut the cake and Mrs. Pat Kalaman, her cousin, passed the guest book. After a wedding trip to Florida, the young couple will be at home in Forest Park, 111. The new Mrs. Freund graduated from Marian Cen tral high school and St. An thony's School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse. Her husband is a graduate of McHenry high school and Western Illinois university with a degree in Chemistry. He will be a sophomore in the Loyola Dental school. Prior to her wedding, the bride was feted at four showers. A miscellaneous shower was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents.
