Our Provider In our modem, technical so ciety it is often hard to realize, but none the less 1t is true -- God4 is our creator and provider. Too many of us have gotten too~far away from God -- the One who made us and the One who loves us. We worry so much about the things of this world -- the stock market, the price of lettuce, the children's teeth. In our comfortable homes that seem so far from danger and des truction we don't call on God as often as we should. Many of us have come to think of the super market as our source of food, our jobs as sources of money for clothing and shelter. We put God in the outer fringes of our minds and this is not good. For God still is The Source of everything we have and need. He has provided for the generations before us and »- Pl.AINDEALfcK - FRIDAY, SKP'fKMbfeK ll. isx.t He will continue to provide for us and our children in the future. But we must give thanks to God, who always was and always will be Editor's Quote Book A kid's definition of a well balanced meal - a hamburger in each hand. It may appear that the Goodyear blimp is about to strike the TV antenna as she passes over the McHenry area about noon Tuesday. The blimp and the antenna played an important part Monday night as the public viewed aerial scenes of the Green Bay Packer-New York Jet game. This blimp, one of three operating in the U.S. was homeward bound from Milwaukee. It is sighted at many of the national televised football games. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) Finding Security In Retirement managed to get picked off first base, and the Firemen felt this was probably the turning point of the game. The Firemen and. Rescue squad would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Schoeff who volunteered his services as umpire. Vaccines to prevent measles, polio, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus and other com municable diseases preven table by immunization are offered. Parents whose children have not been immunized because it was a financial burden should report to the Health depart ment office in Room 102 of the new courthouse on Rt. 47, across from Northwood school. Remember when everyone talk ed about spending his retirement years in leisurely fashion? "Today, the main concern,, is what to do now to make certain there will be time and money, enough to enjoy those years ahead," declares W. Scane Bow ler, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Pioneer Western Corporation, a national financial services organization. "Retirement -- once considered the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow -- is now too often being viewed as an ominous cloud loom ing in the not-too-distant future," Bowler notes. To help banish that cloud, he adds, a person should have a sav ings and investment plan that works for him during his most productive years. "Without such a program, he may well discover that, when the time comes, he simply cannot afford to retire," Bowler states. He offers some guidelines in setting up a workable program: --Develop savings discipline -- tuck away a specified amount in a savings account each pay day. --Ask for advice -- a financial counselor can make practical sug gestions on balanced life insur ance and investment plans that can pay off in later years. --Consider the possibilities of a "second career." --Plan your retirement home. Any considerations of a new home for retirement should in clude costs and locations. "If you own your own home now and plan to stay there in retirement, keep £SS PRICE your property in good condition so that there will be a minimum of repair bills later," Bowler em phasizes. --Live within your means now. --Set meaningful standards which will not be difficult or im possible to maintain in retire ment.
