God sent forth a fragrant flower A blossom sweet from Heaven to bloom. T'was in the form of a little baby For us to cherish and to care. Ten tiny rosy fingers And ten precious toes so bare. Two sparkling eyes that twinkled, The color of Heaven's blue sky. With a smile of Angelic innocence As we sang her a lullaby. Soon we watched her footsteps toddle, Oft she bumped both head and knee, First to mother the one who bore her Then on to sister, who was me. Then the school bells they were ringing Their call rang out upon the air. We watched her as she joined the others To us the fairest of the fair. The years have passed with their awakening Days are gone of yester yore. The little girl we sent to first grade Dressed in blue with pinafore. Hair was combed in curls so neatly Patent slippers on her feet. We bravely watched, and heard her chatter; Skipping gaily down the street. The time it seems has gone so swiftly The years have sped by Oh, so fast. Memories linger ever tender Of all our treasures in the past. The nest it grew so cold in comfort From its warmth she has flown The fledgling now a child no longer A woman strong, mature and grown. We both forget she no longer needs us but to us she will always be. HOSPITAL NOTES ' McHENRY HOSPITAL William Beaman and Con stance Sandrock were patients in McHenry hospital this week.
