Sept. 13, with the roll call showing two members absent, being President Biertiz and Trustee Schweikert. Those present were Trustees Hicks, Henderlong, Hoffman, Moyer, Olbinski and Clerk Lillegard. The treasurer's report showed the following balances: General Fund $5,978.42, MFT Fund $5,421.59, Revenue Sharing Fund none and the Road and Bridge Fund $1,400.00. It was noted that these figures included the real estate taxes received from the county treasurer to date and that these funds must cover the village expenses to May 1,1974. Treasurer Mrs. Lillegard suggested to the Board that $3,000 in the general fund be placed in certificates that would mature in six months time, insuring that funds would be available to operate the village the second half of the year. It was tabled until the next meeting. It was also noted that notification was received from the Department of the Treasurer, Washington, D C., that our share of the revenue sharing funds would be for thcoming in the amount of $5,875 to cover the periods ending June 1974. APPROVE ORDINANCE Mr. Olbinski presented the pre-payment of fines ordinance for passage. It was approved by a vote of 5 yes and 1 absent. In essence this ordinance provides a convenience to the offender to pay its fine within 72 hours at the clerk's office and thus saving the offender the expense to appear in court. REQUEST GARAGE SPACE The road commission ap peared before the board and requested approval of the rental of a garage to house the village vehicles and equipment. The approval was given by a vote of 5 yes and 1 absent. Grass seed will also be pur chased for the areas that were dug up for the drainage correction. This seed is available through the road commissioner and lie should be contacted directly at 385-2010. In further action the police chief was authorized to enroll in a college course at the McHenry County college at the expense of the village. Guidelines for the police department were passed as a recommendation to the police department and the president that they be adopted a§ policy. The vote was 3 yes, 2 no and 1 absent. Under other business it was decided that the sale of car stickers for 1974 will go on sale Dec. 1 BOWLING LEAGUE Friday, Sept. 21, is the first day for bowling. If you are interested in joining in on the fun, contact this reporter and I will refer you to the person in charge. It all takes place on Friday mornings at the McHenry Recreation bowling alley by the old bridge. It's never too late to join and we welcome beginners. BUILDING CODE ORDINANCE AMENDMENT Ordinance Number 2.2. which is an amendment to the building code can be found printed elsewhere in today's edition of the Plaindealer. The amendment pertains to fencing permits and the fee for such permit. Lions Candy Day Means Expanded Service For Blind The joy of a blind child feeling the hairy head of a circus monkey, the thrill of a blind child going sailing, the happiness of a destitute mother who just learned her child will receive needed eye surgery, are all part of the Candy Day story. When Illinois Lions hit the streets and corners Friday, Oct. 12, for their annual Candy Day for the Blind, they will be helping make the above stories possible over and over again. This year the 28,000 Lions will be trying even harder, for they will be aiming at a $1 million statewide goal. SEPTEMBER 21. l»7:t District 15 Tells Free Meal Policy McHenry School District 15 has announced a free meal policy for school children unable to pay the full price of meals served in schools under the National School Lunch program. Ill inois statutes require all public schools to provide free lunches to children from families whose income is at or below the established guidelines. Local school of ficials have adopted a family size-income criteria for use in determining eligibili ty. It is the same adopted in other local district . Children from families whose income is at or below those shown are eligible for free meals.
