Acting rub-Master, .Joe Liggett, welcomed the nee (, 'ub Scouts tci-be and introduced den mothers and committee members. He explained the many activit ies the Scouts wil l be involved in this year, in­ cluding the f lash l ight hunt, ( hnstmas Party, cake bake, Scout-O-Rama, tr ips and picnic. Ribbons wil l be awarded to the dens for their monthly projects and for skits on a point system At the end of the year the points wil l be totaled and the members of the den earning the most points wil l be yiven a prize Information regarding uniforms and Scout books was also given to the boys. Acting Cub Master Liggett stressed the importance of parents participating in Scouting He said that they must work with the boys on their books and attend pack meetings with them. The moms were asked to occasionally provide cookies for the pack meetings Parents were also told that their help was needed as den mothers, Cub master. assistant Cub masters arid committee members, as well as with candy sales, games for pack meetings, refreshments, etc. The meeting closed with the living circle and sign up of new Scouts followed. Former assistant den mother, Audrey Burrows, will serve as treasurer this year. Other sign­ ups of the evening were new f>en Mothers, Sue Vanek and Marlene Lundborg, and assistant Cub masters, .John Vanek, Tom Burrows and Bob Morrissey. The reason, we found out, was that he and his Marge had just become Grandma and Grandpa of twin boys. Sept. 29, there will be a recycling collection of glass, tin and paper at the McHenry Market Place. Please bring your magazines, newspapers, and cardboard tied in separate bundles. Cleaned bottles with all metal removed may be dropped off; however the labels do not have to be eliminated. Tin, cans should be washed, both ends removed, and crushed inside the cans. These labels must be removed. Included with the tin may be jar lids if the cardboard or plastic has been taken off. Pop-top aluminum cans can also be accepted if the cans are completely flattened. These guidelines help to save wasted time by the volunteer workers. Members of our subdivision are asked to each bring their materials to the site this Saturday. Continue to support the McHenry County Defen­ ders and your environment. Everyone appreciates the efforts of individuals in the community.
