I think we can help them enjoy life more through a relationship spon sored by this program." This is the way Marjorie Ruth of McHenry describes the course in which she has been involved at Sangamon State University. Marjorie is a graduate of McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, and is now a' senior at Sangamon State. She is majoring in psychology, with hopes of becoming a clinical psychologist. The program, which is called COPE (Community Op portunity Program Effectors) has been developing for the past six months, and is now in full swing. Students who have enrolled in the program have agreed to remain actively involved in the program for at least two semesters. The students are paid when working with a child and are expected to be so engaged for at least 15 hours a week. The entire class meets once a week to discuss the students' experiences. COPE class is taught by Donald Foust and John Miller. As Marjorie puts it, "I'm working about 15 hours a week with a young girl as a counselor and sort of big sister."
