Also in the end zone is Warrior Dave Dulberg, No. 30. The Broncos scored on the next play and the quarter ended 13-0. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Barrington Defeats Warriors 46 To 0 By Dick Rabbitt The Barrington Broncos rebounding from a 20 to 0 loss to Mundelein last week, took it out on the Warriors Friday night by a score of 46 to 0. The game was much closer than the score indicates. In the drizzling downpour throughout the game the Warriors fumbled four times deep in their own territory, and four times the Broncos turned these miscues into touchdowns. Along with three touchdown passes by Burke, Bronco quarterback, that was the scoring for Barrington. On the other fifty two of fensive plays by Barrington, the Warriors held their own with the heavier Broncos. It seems that playing the Warriors brings the best out in the Bronco attack. The first five games played this year the highly touted Broncs won 4 and lost 1 in a so-so performance. They were sluggish, and managed to eke out two close OUCH! Barrington proved too much as they ran over the Warrior 46-0 under the lights and rain at i McCracken Field last Friday evening. This Bronco was on his way for aTD as he runs over Warrior Tom Long, but Tom hangs on and brings him dow n short of the end zone. But Friday night they were able to put it all together and beat the Warriors. Barrington kicked off to the Warrior's 27. On the first play Staley's pass to Jim Grobowski was good for a 1st down on the 41. Freund made 4, and on the next play Klapperich fumbled and Barrington recovered. Rife ran to the 11 for a 1st down, and Burke's pass to Fath was good for the T.D. and a 6 to 0 lead at 8:00 of the quarter. After the kickoff the Warriors were forced to punt, and Barrington started a march. Penalties set them back to midfield. Then Decker ran over two Broncs and threw Burke for a 15 yd. loss back on the Barrington 35. Barrington punted, and the Warriors started again to march. After a first down, the Warriors were again forced to punt. Barrington on a 4th down failed and Warriors took over on 32. Freund ran to the 37 and fumbled, recovered by Barrington. Rife in two plays carried over for the T.D. Walsh's kick was good and at the quarter it was 13 to 0 Barrington. Freund took the Barrington kickoff and ran it back to the Bronco's 41. Two plays later another Warrior fumble on the 29 was recovered by Barrington. Rife made a 1st down on the 43. Simon caught a pass for 17 yds. and Scott Fencik grabbed another Burke pass on the Warrior 26. Rife made 10, and Burke ran 15, knocked out of bounds on the 1. Rife went in for the T.D. at 6:42 and the score was 19 to 0. Freund returned kickoff to the37. (He had 3 returns for 112 yds. for the night). Barrington held and Warriors punted to the Bronco's 33. Burke took to the air and hit Simon for 26 yds. on the Warrior 41. Fencik went to the 32 for a 9 yd. gain, and Rife made the 1st down on the 31. Burkes then threw a 31 yd. pass for the T.D. to Fath with 1:30 remaining in the half. Walsh's kick was good and it was 26 to 0 at the half. In the third period Barrington scored twice more, one on 11 yd. pass from Burke to Fencik, and Rife ran 24 yds. for the other. In between these touchdowns the Warriors put on a drive picking up three first downs in a row, but again a fumble recovered by Barrington ended the drive Staley hit Mroz for a 33 yd. pass play, keyed by two beautiful blocks by Decker and Barry. Late in the game another Warrior fumble in the end zone resulted in the final Barrington T.D. The Warriors didn't play a bad ball game. Roddy is well remembered in County League baseball circles as a catcher who wore tennis shoes. He knows that game of baseball and has enjoyed the friendship of many big leaguers. The subject of bowling came up and Roddy offered the idea that teams should follow a schedule of going to other locations (rotate) as they do in others ports. It might take a bft: * of doing for the schedule!', makers, but the idea does make you think. Variety is supposed to be the spice of life. Still don't know what Cousin Rose Ann said under her breath when we answered her question, "How do we get city water?" "Turn on the faucet", was our answer. Between lines we are trying to catch the World Series game. Seems those Mets should have somebody to play outfield besides the injured Rusty Staub or the once great Willie Mays. Some people can make your day brighter. It happened to us in a short visit with Mike Conway. He's the Mike you know in local ice hockey. George Adams, 86 years young, and his wife came to the old home town from Elgin Saturday night. We admire their spirit--more of the kind who would rather wear out than rust out. It bothered us alittle that we were not able to go to the football .game here Friday night, the bother has gone away after hearing the score. Since we didn't see it, our comments are withheld. 01' Loyalty Dick tells us in his story that the Warriors didn't play a bad game. Such loyalty through thick and thin should be enough to inspire the Warriors to prance out and win one for Dick. Harriers Lose Double Dual At Schaumburg vastly superior team. Barrington is the best team in the conference, and there is no mistake about it. The Warriors managed to gain 151 yds. on the ground in 32 attempts. This is good enough to win a lot of ball games. They gained 72 yds. in the air. They returned kickoffs back for a total of 160 yds. That's a lot of yards on a rain soaked field. Fumbles at the wrong time definitely hurt the Warriors. The defense played well, Dobbertin, Decker, Roberts, Barry, Thornton, and Freund in the line did a good job. Many times Barrington had long yardage to make due to the play of this defensive front line. Eppel, Hurckes, Mroz and Hansen had a time with Burke's passes. The going was slick, especially when you're covering a man who knows where the pass will be. You can't do too much guessing on a slippery field. Crystal Lake, Cary Grove and Harvard rounded out the teams competing. The favored McHenry team just couldn't seem to get going over the hilly, muddy field at Veterans Acres in Crystal Lake.
