An announcement made this week that W.I.L.A., McHenry County radio station will broadcast the program between 8:30 and 9:30. "Dick" Richards, president of the Kiwanis club will be toast- master. Open house will be held at the new first grade rooms at 204 Waukegan Road Nov. 10. The general public is invited to view the recently remodeled rooms on the west side of the Cristy house. The Misses Ann and Margaret Bolger entertained at a miscellaneous shower held at their home south of McHenry honoring Miss Kathryn Nye who will become the bride of Mr. Thomas F. Bolger on Nov. 11. Miss Betty Cannon, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. Floyd Cannon of Waukegan, former McHenry residents, is assigned to Pan American's southern run including Central and South America. She is a stewardess and purserette. She has flown 700,000 in the air during the last three years. Raymond Bauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. The city's collection for July based on June taxes amounted to $7,849.49. The young at heart, regar­ dless of age, will welcome the benefit performances of the much loved "Wizard of Oz" which the McHenry Girl Scouts are sponsoring Nov. 23 and 24 at the McHenry high school auditorium. Forrest W. Bailey, McCullom Lake, died Thursday morning, Oct. 31, of a heart attack as he was driving his car north of McHenry on Route 31. Kenneth Richard Carder, son of the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Earnest C. Carder of Main street, received his ordination as an elder in the Methodist church at the special called session of the Rock River conference recently in the First Methodist church in Evanston. The Warriors proved themselves to be as tough as anybody in the conference last Saturday as they scored a convincing 19-6 victory against Barrington. The victory gave them sole possession of second place only Vfe game out of first. The Women's auxiliary to Post 4600, Veterans of Foreign Wars, presented twenty-eight classroom flags and one out­ door flag to the McHenry junior high school. Service News RESAE ACKERMAN One would hardly expect this pretty, 1973 June graduate of M.C.H.S. to have an interest in what is generally considered a man's occupation. Right there the assumption is wrong. Resae Ackerman of Ringwood is presently em­ ployed as a carpenter. However, before long she will be a member of Uncle Sam's Navy. Resae was sworn into the Navy, in the CACHE program, Sept. 26. Under the program, she will attend Navy school for one year and then for the remainder of her service period - three years will enter into the work for which she has been trained. At present, she is waiting for an opening in the field of Electronics and Com­ munications. Seaman Recruit Ackerman will report to Orlando, Fla., Feb. 8, 1974 for basic training which precedes entrance into the specialized school. U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Ronald J. Gerstung, son of Mrs. Gerry Guido, 5015 N. Kimberly Ave., Chicago, has arrived for duty at Ent AFB, Colo. Sgt. Gerstung, an ad­ ministrative supervisor with a unit of the Aerospace Defense command, previously served at U-Tapao airfield, Thailand. The sergeant, whose father is Herbert Gerstung, Wonder Lake, is a 1957 graduate of Amundsen high school. READY TO MOVE-Moving into the old courthouse and Jail, members of the McHenry County Extension Service anticipate shifting from temporary quarters in the jail area to the permanent home on the second floor of the historic old structure on Wood­ stock's city square.
