It is a beautiful sight to see them each day dotting the water and enjoying their homeland. All subdivisions surrounding McCuiiom Lake agreed upon the no shooting ordinance and will actively enforce this policy. Our en vironment is in need of more people who care for the future of nature. The club needs more members to help support their causes and keep our lake an enjoyable place for both man and animal. Be proud of your lake and come to the meeting next February. Look at the ducks and be happy they are safe on McCuiiom Lake. WECOME LADIES The next meeting of the Women's auxiliary is tomorrow night, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. The hostess this month will be Dolores Jaburek. Offer Toll Free Phone In State Office If any Illinois resident has a question or a problem con cerning the Secretary of State's office, he can now call a toll free telephone number in Springfield for an answer. Michael J. Howlett, Secretary of State, announced that the number (800-252-8980) is officially in operation. Posters displaying the toll free number are being placed in driver's examination stations throughout the state. They will replace pictures of public officials which were removed earlier this year. Howlett expects the majority of questions to involve vehicle licensing and driver's license problems. "Our office has other responsibilities such as cor porations, official election information and securities, which I am sure will generate some questions too," he said. As Secretary of State, Howlett is also state librarian and state archivist. A staff of trained personnel will answer the toll free calls. If an immediate answer isn't possible, they will provide one within 24 hours. At present, service will be maintained from 8 a.m. umtil 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The problem is this: There's plenty of natural gas in the ground. But find ing it is a mighty expensive proposition these days. During the latest seven year period, for example, the cost of an ex ploratory well has risen more than while the wholesale price of natural gas to Nl-Gas has increased less than Vfe. So it's no wonder there aren't enough explorers investing in new wells to meet the growing need for natural gas energy. To encourage them, Nl-Gas puts up part of the money. In return, gas dis covered will help increase our supply for you. Ordinarily, you wouldn't expect Nl-Gas to be involved in financing ex ploration. But we're involved in a lot of things you wouldn't expect, to make sure you have the natural gas energy you need to keep your home comfort able and your environment clean.
