STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD McHenry State Bank Malls 2,400 Christmas Checks Tuesday, Nov. 6, the McHenry State bank will mail in excess of $350,000 in checks to more than 2,400 Christmas club members. Local merchants will be interested in knowing that surveys show approximately one-third of the amount saved is actually used for Christmas shopping and a similar amount is usually converted into a savings account. The remaining balance is normally used to pay bills or to make a down payment on a major purchase. The Christmas club originated in 1910 and now exceeds 1.5 billion annually. Over 100 million saVers had their first contact with banking through the Christmas club program. McHenry State bank Christmas club grows larger each year and the trend con tinues to be for early distribution of checks. To insure early mailing next year, the 1974 Christmas club is now open. Radloff, 716 Dowell, McHenry, charged with arson, bound over to the Grand jury. Michael C. Oberhuber, McHenry, guilty of speeding, fined $50 and costs and guilty of disorderly conduct, fined $15 and costs. COMPLAINTS Officer John Langdon charges that on Oct. 26, Frank V. Koepke of 8612 Route 12, Richmond, committed the offense of criminal damage to property over $150 in that he did knowingly damage property of Richard Jager, a window and front door in a building located at 3313 W. Elm street, McHenry. Bond set at $1,000, court date Nov. 8. Officer John Langdon charges that on Oct 26, Frank V. Koepke of 8612 Route 12, Richmond, committed the offense of aggravated battery in that he did in committing a battery and while armed with a deadly weapon, a butcher knife with a 10 inch blade, in tentionally and without legal justification, throw said knife at Loretta M. Behl, striking her in the upper right wrist thereby causing bodily harm to her. Bond set at $10,000. Court date Nov. 8. Alvin N. Benoy, vice- president of Althoff Industries, charges that on or about Oct. 1, Kenneth Rairie of 4112 Crystal Lake road, McHenry, com mitted the offense of theft over $150 in that he did knowingly exert unauthcftized control over property of Althoff Industries, namely toolsL Bond set at $2,500, court dkte Nov. 1. Lt. Gary StOTffer charges that on Oct. 22, Myron Radloff of 716 Dowell road, McHenry, committed the offense of arson in that without consent, by means of a fire, knowingly damaged a house trailer owned by Richard McKenny, damage exceeding $150.. Bond set at $5,000, bound over to the Grand jury. Deputy Sheriff George Corson charges that on Oct. 24, Benjamin J. Mennella, 2706 Sterlifig, McHenry, committed the offense of abandonment of vehicles. Bond set at $25, court date Nov. 19. Officer Robert Winters charges that on Oct. 26, Terry J. Orton of 4817 Orchard drive, McHenry, committed the of fenses of disorderly conduct and aggravated assault in that he refused to obey thS^om- mands of the officer and threatened to start fighting. Bond set at $1,025, court date Nov. 5. Fourteen complaints were filed Oct. 26 by John A. Raber, R.S. and Paul J. McDonnell, R.S. of the McHenry County Health department against Charles Fritzsche of 601 Columbus, McHenry. The complaints charge Fritzsche with "criminal house management in that he, having personal management or control of the residential real estate located at 607 Amanda, McHenry, did knowingly permit by his gross carelessness and neglect, the facilities of such residences to become and remain so deteriorated that the health and safety of any occupant is in danger": to wit, he refused to exterminate cockroaches found within residences located at 605, 607 , 611, 613, 617, 619, 621, 625,705 and 707 Amanda avenue and 605 Columbus avenue, Lake moor. The complaints also charge that he refused to repair the sewer system, the malfunctions of which caused bathtubs and toilets to become inoperable at 619 and 621 Amanda and at 605 Columbus. Sheldon. 5222 Or- 4 chard, McHenry, speeding 43 in a 25 m.p.h/zone. Marian Olson, 516 N. Mineral Springs, McHenry, speeding 35 in a 25 m.p.h. zone.
