i I Rick Freund Most Valuable FootBall Player At MCHS By Dick Rabbitt All Conference fullback Rick Freund was selected by his teammates as the Most Valuable Football Player at the Annual Awards Night held on Tuesday at West Campus. Rick was also awarded another honor when he was chosen along with Bob Dobbertin as the Honorary Co-Capt's for the past season. The best defensive award went to junior linebacker Bob Eppel. Twenty-five Varsity Awards were presented by Coach Bill Day, along with 15 J.V. Awards. Following is a list of the letter winners and the J.V. squad. J.V. EXCLUSIVE AREA SHOWING , , (OVER 5 MONTHS SRO IN CHICAGO ALREADY) J Judith Crist/New York Magazine : "May the blue- noses leave it lay for the pleasure of those whose taste it is. Stands photographically head and shoulders above 'Throat'.. .and more varied! The first ten minutes achieve Modigliani tones. The cast is enthusiastic.. .Georgina Spevlin makes a mark on your emotions!" BrUCQ Williamson/Playboy: The 'Devil in Miss Jones' is unique, surprising, provocative! Exceptionally well fi lmed and acted --as well as lustily performed, and goes another big step toward bridging the gap between serious art films and those previously labeled sexploitation." Charles Michdner Newsweek: "The Most interesting film of its kind to date because it dissolves the distinction between sex films and art films. Georgina Spevlin's performance was remark ably persuasive!" Kevin Sanders/ wabc-tv. -The most tech nically polished erotic movie. XXX Bizarre, explicit, imaginative artistry. It 's not a film for the 'Sound of Music'--Radio City Music Hall--Reader's Digest audience. But for those who constitute the obviously very large audience for Erotica, it 's certainly the more imaginative." Bob Salmaggi/w/NS "Makes 'Last Tango in Paris' look like a minuet at a Boston social tea party! 'The Devil in Miss Jones' never tries to be funny or sarcastic, or campy, as the general run of the mill sexploiters usually do. Damiano is dead serious in his attempt to combine straight drama, sociological endeavor and of course, sexual activity into a true form of erotic art, even to the camera work and scenario." Addison Verrill/Van ety: "The picture is a sensation, marked by a technical polish that pales some recent Hollywood product and containing some of the most frenzied and erotic sex sequences in memory. The picture boasts an evocative, sensual score, first rate color photography. A major plus in the sound. If Marlon Brando can be praised for giving his almost-all in 'Last Tango in Paris' one wonders what the reaction will be to Miss Jones' lead Georgina Spevlin, whose performance is so naked it seems a massive invasion of privacy." Bernard Drew/ Gannett Syndicate: "The photography is good, the music even better. I must say that Georgina Spevlin looks as if she's having fun doing what she does so naturally. This picture has an obvious moral, with the leading lady going off to spend an eternity in a Hell first devised by Jean-Paul Sartre in 'No Exit'. An Easter Surprise for fallen angels!" After Dark Magazine/ "Ten times 'Tango's' impact!" John Crittenden/Bergan Record. Nice crowd. Good sociable time. There must have been 45 freshman boys stepping up to get their honors. Some looked small, but they have time to grow. They are rugged and have desire. In two or three years, we won't recognize them. Sophs were not as numerous. Some drop football and turn to other sports. That's the way the ball bounces. Somebody's loss is the other guy's gain. The Sophs started great until too many joined the crutch brigade. There should be some good varsity material in this group. Mobile Varsity players were not too happy about their record, but can be proud of the spirit and fortitude shown. The world loves a winner. We should have one in '74 to love. The McHenry County Snowmobile Association was well attended by 5 members of the Harmony Snowmobile club last Wed., Nov. 7. The McHenry County ass'n., meets the first Wednesday of each month to compare notes etc., among the 7 active snowmobile clubs that are now formed in the McHenry county. They are Polar Pairs of Spring Grove, Richmond Trailblazers of Richmond, Woodstock Snowmobile club of W o o d s t o c k , H u n t l e y Snowmobile club of Huntley and there are 3 clubs in the McHenry area. A new club, the McHenry Snowballers, the Sno- bugs and the Harmony snowmobile club. The state association meets the second Tuesday of each month in Aurora. Association stickers were discussed but was tabled until the need is there. The Trail committee decides on this need. Snowmobilers here is a word of caution from the Illinois Department of Conservation. The certificates of number of snowmobiles registered during the 1971-1972 expired on Sept. 30,1973. There will be no notice of expiration sent out by the state so owners are urged to check their registration to determine if it has expired, and to re-register immediately if it has. Snowmobilers clan get SKYLINE Rout* 120-1 Mil* Eo»t of McH*nry_ I THEY'RE ALL LOOKING FOR A MASTER Cheerleaders and Pep Club girls were dressed up in long skirts for the occasion. They looked real nice. Couldn't blame the boys if their eyes drifted from football awards. We do have a high class group of men guiding our young men in their athletic en deavors. That will reflect on the conduct and progress of these young fellows. The mamas baked a lot of tasty cake and cookies to serve the crowd. Temporarily off our diet. During refreshments we sat with the Richard "Nick" Freunds. They were happy -- and rightly so. Their sort had just received top awards. Rich was really a good one as his All- Conference selection attests. We covered games when Rick's Dad played for McHenry high. He could rip through the line real good. Yep. Real good. The Cubs are trading. They should. Dear "S.I.H.": Just to settle an argument in our group. Do people prefer to see girls wearing slacks or shorts? We will await your answer. "NO NAME" Dear "NO NAME": You say people. Men or women? Yours, "S.I.H." It was a hard decision, but after seeing the coaches and players Tuesday night - then the boys in the Plaindealer establishment Wednesday we have finally decided to let our hair grow. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Princess Ann used the old fashioned marriage vows in stead of the modern "Love, honor and Oh, Boy!" Hockey League Reorganization Meeting Nov. 21 The 21st of November, Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the Veteran's of Foreign Wars hall (V.F.W.) there will be a meeting for all interested boys, men, women to decide whether to reorganize the McHenry Hockey league under a new renewal applications from the Department of Conservation or from any snowmobile dealer. The application will cost $6 and should be mailed to the Department of Conservation, Boat Licensing Section, Room 605, State Office Building, Springfield, 111. 62706. Pub. Ch. We need people to show not only an interest to play, but to be part of the league and be workers. One man can not do the job. Pass the word along to all people, who want to have the league, to be at the V.F.W. hall at 8 p.m. sharp. We will discuss the league with a determination to start fresh and make it like the first year. Insurance, teams, schedules, coaches, practice time, fees, referees and anything that the group would like to cover will be discussed. We would like to get the rink set up Thursday morning with all members helping.
