SECOND SECTION - PAGE 1 - PLAINDEALER FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1973 S- THE MCHENRY PLAINDEALER "SERVING THE CHAIN-O-LAKES, REGION SINCE 1875 McHenry Shores Mrs. Rose Litie«ard 385-8500 Solicitors Must Obtain Permits From City Clerk Within the last week we have received calls from persons c o m p l a i n i n g a b o u t unauthorized solicitors selling water softeners and magazines. A word of caution....Do not allow any solicitors into your home. Require that they show you a permit from the village with the village clerk's signature and seal and then call the village clerk if in doubt. Report to the police department any solicitors without permits. You may be saving your neighbor an unfortunate incident. The village now has a full police department, for goodness sake use it and give the police your full cooperation. CARD GREETINGS As many of us know from the past years, Mrs. Pogor has been so kind as to take on the responsibility of sending get- well and sympathy cards to our residents on behalf of the lot owners association and now the village. Mrs. Pogor requests that if you know of someone who should be sent a card to please notify her. Her phone number is 385-2265. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated. POLICE FINES Within the last weeks the following tickets were issued: Delbert Blake, no valid village vehicle sticker, fine $10; Delbert Blake, dog running at large, fine $10; Frank Scheib for unauthorized parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. fine $2. BUILDING PERMITS The following permits were issued within the last week: Vincent Door, new attached garajge; Richard Jager, new recreation room, James .Blue, new fence. Two additional remodelings have been tem porary stopped until such time as permits are issued. If in doubt call the village as to what items must have permits. VEHICLE STICKERS Both the vehicle stickers and dog tags are due shortly. At the regular board of trustees meeting, Nov. 8, it was decided that in order to cause less confusion it will be necessary to have your 1974 state registration card with you when purchasing your village sticker. What this means is that you would first secure your 1974 Illinois license plates before applying for your village sticker. For the dog tags please bring your current rabies certificate at the time of pur chasing the tags. Watch the column for the dates and places the stickers will be sold. BOARD MEETING The regular board of trustees meeting was a rather short one and was over by 9:30 p.m. Bills were approved for payment in the following funds: General Furtd, $215.55; and the MFT Fund, $206.99. There were no resolutions or ordinances presented. Civil Defense Chairman William Pinkonsly, Jr., appeared before the board to inform them that the village is now an accredited civil defense unit and that the only time we would hear from this unit would be in the event of need. In the event of need the civil defense unit is there and qualified. Christmas tree pick-up was also discussed and decided that the road department would pick up the discarded trees on one day only after the holidays. This day will be determined at a later time. Clerk Lillegard asked the board to consider the pur chasing of a used electric typewriter for $75 and a used mimeograph machine for $150. After some discussion it was decided that the clerk should contact the seller and place a deposit on the typewriter and hold off on the mimeograph machine until we could secure more information. It was suggested that a ditto machine would be ample. If you know the whereabouts of a used mimeograph or ditto contact the village clerk and please have prices and age of machines. Any and all donations would be gladly accepted. Police Chief Buck read the police report for the month of October as follows: Complaints received and investigated 24, information calls 7, miles driven 578, total hours on patrol ARE YOU IN NEED OF 1271/2, standby hours 523. The entire police force is now fully equipped with uniforms with the exception of four hats and one winter jacket. These items will be purchased within the next week. Police Chief Buck also noted that twenty-eight families have yet to purchase their current vehicle stickers and will be ticketed accordingly. Mrs. Lillegard commended on the fine job done by Mrs. Moyer on the Halloween costume contest and stated that she felt that from the fine turnout the need is presently here for additional activities for all age groups of the community. From the bowling league, Mrs. Lillegard felt that she could secure the interest and services of at least nine women who would make up a com munity calendar with various events and functions. President Bieritz instructed Mrs. Lillegard to proceed and report back to the board at a later date. Some type of function was felt to be needed for Christmas for the children. Bert Hanson, administratQr at the Woodstock-based hospital, recalled completion of the 1971 addition that included thirty-four beds and many new ancillary services and the 1972 all-new emergency department as he spoke of the future. "We have established a Long Range planning committee composed of men and women from several vital areas of our hospital community," said Hanson. "We know the next decade will bring growing population to our service area and in creasing pressure on Memorial hospital to provide health care because it is the area's health care center." To keep on top of health care requirements, this committee will evaluate changing con cepts in distribution of health services while increasing many services through present facilities. Citizens served by Memorial Hospital for McHenry County are fortunate it has the beds, the ancillary services, the sophisticated equipment and adequate number of physicians to continue as a top hospital, continued Hanson. Occupancy has been in creasing steadily the past two years since Memorial grew to a 124-bed hospital. Warned Hanson: "We don't want to find ourselves at 95 per cent oc cupancy and realize we need more beds and ancillary ser vices. "This Long Range planning committee is starting now to meet needs anticipated within the next decade. We are also fortunate to have the physical space for construction and parking to expand Memorial hospital to a 250-bed hospital, a size it could reach by 1983." Some areas expanded in the 1971 major building program-a $1.6 million investment by the community-are reaching their capacity now. The business office, examining rooms, x-ray and laboratory could use more space if it were readily available. Members of the Long Range planning committee include George Frejd and Joe Sullivan, Legal Notice Electors in the Fourth Ward of the City of McHenry who wish to vote in the Special Election on February 5, 1974 must be registered.
