How can I remove paint spatters from my hands and face without resorting to the possibly injurious effects of turpentine, or other paint removers? A. Try taking a small piece of butter, or a cloth dipped in baby oil, and rubbing this on your face and hands. Rub it well in and then wipe off. Then wash with soap and water. This does a surprisingly good job. Q. How can I repair a burn in my carpet? A. Try removing some "fuzz" from the rug (this can be done either by shaving or pulling some out with a tweezers), then roll this in your hand until it is the shape of the burn. Then put a good cement glue on the backing of the rug, and put the roll of fuzz down in the burned spot and place a piece of cleansing tissue over it...and place a heavy book on top. This will cause the glue to dry very slowly and you will get sur prisingly effective results. Q. How can I keep the hinges clean when painting or var nishing doors? A. By rubbing some petroleum jelly on the hinges beforehand. Then, spatters of paint that tend to get on the hinges can be easily wiped off. Q. How can I prevent my party punch from getting watery from melting ice cubes? A. By mixing a small batch of punch beforehand and freezing it in your ice cube trays. Then use these cubes for keeping the punch cold while serving it. As the cubes melt, they will add to your supply of punch, keeping the original flavor. Q. How can I make my own super-fine sugar in an emergency? A. By putting some of your regular sugar into your blen der. will be evening performances each day and matinees Nov. 23, 24 and 25. Spectacular specialty acts will also be held in conjunction with the Rodeo. They include champion Border Collie sheep dogs under the hands of Harold Miller, of Bloomfield, Ky., and trick riding on both horses and Brahma bulls by Leon Adams of Stuart, Okla. Q. How can I remove a light scorch stain from a white cotton blouse? A. You might try using a household scouring cleanser that contains bleach. After wetting the material, pour some cleanser on and take a handbrush and rub it on your blouse. This usually works out beautifully. Q. How can I take the crease out of a hem when the garment has been let down? By pressing lightly, then using an eyedropper filled with white vinegar and running it across the crease, allowing some of the vinegar to run on the crease. Then press with a warm, not hot, iron until it is dry. You will probably not be able to tell where the hem has been let out. Q. How can I remove fingermarks from wallpaper around light switches? A. An art gum eraser usually works wonderfully for this purpose. Q. How can I add a pleasant fragrance to my freshly-ironed clothing? A. Try adding a few drops of your favorite cologne to the water in your steam iron. Q. How can I improvise a good scouring powder for my bathroom when I am out of the real thing? A. Just try using toothpaste or tooth powder...the Latter works best. This not only takes the stains away, and leaves the basin gleaming, but it smells nice, too. Only a small amount is necessary. But A1 Bock, University of Illinois Extension The other new statute which affects labor provides for funding of an appropriation in the amount of 1.7 million dollars for the Illinois In dustrial commission, the state agency charged with protecting labor employees' interests. Meanwhile the labor issue in relation to workmen's com pensation and protection of employees from on-the-job hazards will undoubtedly spark more legislative action in the upcoming sessions, as the issue has in the past, say Illinois State Bar association officials. law specialist, says that all people should have a will. . .regardless of sex or ownership of land. A will is important in providing for each member of the family according to the needs and wishes of the persons involved. He says, if you do not have a will, the statutory laws of descent will govern the distribution of your property. A will is an important part of a planned estate. One purpose of a will is to transfer a per- sons's assets with a minimum of reduction from federal and state inheritance taxes. Review your will if you already have one. Provisions made earlier may no longer be applicable and need changing. A will is flexible and easy to change, but only a attorney should draft a will or change a will. MHAT SbiOULP X PO? THIS WEEK S LETTER: I am a 16 year-old girl who is in love with a guy 23 years old. A little while back, we went steady for about three months. He even asked me to marry him. But I told him I was too young. After two weeks he broke up with me, saying it was all my fault. But he didn't tell me why. One month later he asked me out again and I went. We dated for a couple of months and then he asked me to marry him again. I said, "Yes!" He told me he was going to talk to my father about us. But my father said, "NO!" My father said I was too young. Now, my boy friend wants me to go away with him and get married. What should I do? Please help me with this problem because I do love him and I know that he loves me. Is running away best? OUR REPLY: No, running away with him is not the best solution. Your first answer and your father's answer are right, you are too young right now. If you both love each other there should be no problem to wait at least another two years until you are 18. Those two years will go fast and you'll get a chance to continue your education and gain some more maturity before mar riage. This will be a good time for your boyfriend to start putt ing away some money, so at least you'll have some kind of fi nancial security when you do get married. Running away will cause more problems than waiting it out. If he won't wait for you, maybe you are not losing much.
