Exceptionally well filmed and acted --as well as lustily performed, and goes another big step toward bridging the gap between serious art films and those previously labeled sexploitation." ChwrlftS MichftnW/NewsweeJc: "The Most interesting film of its kind to date because it dissolves the distincttpn between sex film» and art films. Georgina Spevlin's performance was remark ably persuasive!" Rivii Sanders/ WABC-TV: "The most technically polished •rotic movie. XXX Bizarre, explicit, imaginative artistry. It's not a film for the 'Sound of Music'--Radio City Music Hall--Reader's Digest audience. But for those who constitute the obviously very large audience for Erotica, it's certainly the more imaginative." Bab Salmaggi/w/NS. "Mokes 'Last Tango in Paris' look like a minuet at a Boston social tea party! 'The Devil in Miss Jones' never Tries to be funny or sarcastic, or campy, as the general run of the mill sexploiters usually do. Damiano is dead serious in his attempt to combine straight drama, sociological endeavor and of course, sexual activity into a true form of erotic art, even to the camera work and scenario." JUMison Vorrill/Van ety: "The picture is a sensation, marked by a technical polish that pales some recent Hollywood product and containing some of the most frenzied and erotic sex sequences in memory. The picture boasts an evocative, sensual score, first rate color photography. A major plus in the sound. If Marlon Brando can be praised for giving his almost-all in 'Last Tango in Paris' one wonders what the reaction will be to Miss Jones' lead Georgina Spevlin, whose performance is so naked it seems a massive invasion of privacy." Barnard Draw/Gannett Syndicate:' 'The photography is good, the music even better. I must say that Georgina Spevlin looks as if she's having fun doing what she does so naturally. This picture has an obvious moral, with the leading lady going off to spend an eternity in a Hell first devised by Jean-Paul Sartre in 'No Exit'. An Easter Surprise for fallen angels!" -- Altar Dark Magazina/ "Ten times 'Tango's' impact!" John Crittondon/ Bergan Record: " The Devil in Miss Jones' is a serious erotic film. Unlike 'Last Tango' it's well worth the $5 Price!" Slann O'Brien Andy Warhol s Interview: "if you're Hell-Bent only once this year, make sure it's to 'The Devil in Miss Jones'! The thirty- three member squad was picked by all McHenry County varsity football coaches. The coaches stated there was a need for more recognition of McHenry county athletes and this was a good method of accomplishing that goal. ( \ % HP i CM EARL WALSH' Our first Christmas card arrived. Bill and Lora Sprouse beat Loren Thomas this year. Lora explained that they are taking a cruise and won't be back until December 27. For those of you who may not know, Lora grew up at Smith's Corners near Ringwood and later became Mrs. Clay Hughes. She is now a member of the real Old Timer Club-- and still a loyal Plaindealer reader no matter where her travels take her. Dear Earl, Some of my colleagues up here at Valley View wonder if Nixon has thought of praying to St. Anthony for those lost tapes. They thought perhaps you could get through to him. In our family for years whenever anything "came up missing" we'd say: St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please look around, Something has been lost and can't be found. You'd be surprised at the good luck we had in finding the mate to that extra sock, old tennis shoes, lost library books and a couple of times, even money. -NAME WITHHELD- Don't know whether we should try to get through to St. Anthony or President Nixon So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR J Jfi_fiLHVJfLQNkYi POSITIVE PQ.QftF_BEQ.ft- * RATED ® J IN COLOR » CONTINUOUS * PRESENTATION J 7:00 P.M. * 8:15 P.M. An irate employee went to the paymaster's window and laid down his pay envelope. Carefully counting out the money, he looked the paymaster in the eye and said, "Twenty dollars short." The paymaster picked up the envelope and turned to a record sheet to check the amount due. Smiling broadly, he came back to the window. "Last week we overpaid you twenty dollars," he explained. "You didn't complain about that." "An occasional mistake I can overlook," replied the angry employee, but not two in a row!" As Thanksgiving Day nears, it is time to be thankful for many things. WE ARE THANKFUL - For doctors and nurses who have kept us wired together all these years. To awaken each morning. (That doesn't mean we are so darn thankful about having to arise). That TV shows are not all filled with violence or smut. (Now you take Lawrence Welk). That Christmas promotions don't start until after the fourth of July. For stretch belts. (Sat across the table from a girl at a wedding who ate so much she had to let her belt out a notch). For aches and pains. (It feels so good when they go away). For loyal friends, turkey, little children, pumpkin pie, the White Sox, dressing, the Cubs (Oh, sure!), cranberry sauce, Scots Prepare For Coming Cage Wars While most high schools have been finishing up their football schedules the past few weeks McHenry County College has been busy preparing for the coming basketball season. The Fighting Scots faced Sauk Valley College from Dixon at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Scots will come right back on Wednesday night, Nov. 21, to play host to Black Hawk East College from Moline at Crystal Lake High School Fieldhouse, their home gym nasium. Veteran coach Bob Matte now in his sixth year as coach of the McHenry County five is guardedly optimistic about the forthcoming campaign. On paper the team has the most size of any squad in the school's history. A1 Gould, pivot man from Woodstock tops the height list at 6'6". Other potential front line big men include veteran Mike Tichenor, 6'5" from Crystal Lake, Chris Toren, 6'5" from Marian Central, Dale Groskinsky, 6'4", transfer from Carthage College and Harvard High School, Jim Bushert, 6'2", from Marengo, Tom Frost, 6'2", transfer from LeHigh College in Penn., Mark Eberhardt 6'3" from Crystal Lake and Dave Judson, 6'2" from Woodstock, are other potential "starters" in the front court. At the guard positions four candidates from Harvard will be battling for spots. Wes Wittmers, second leading scorer on the team last season; Randy Blazier, transfer from Carthage, and Dan Hayes and Dave Bell from last years' Hornet squad are the quartet. Tom Desmond, letterman from Crystal Lake and Jerry Miller from McHenry by way of Carthage College, will be battling these four all the way to determine who starts. Twenty-four games are listed on the schedule and although the Scots look vastly improved over last year's team, pre season word is that most of MCC's opponents will be much tougher also. Marian Central Cheerleaders Sponsor Grade School Clinic For three hours an anxious group of fifty-five young cheerleaders from local elementary and Junior high schools participated in a clinic for cheerleaders held in the gymnasium of Marian Central Catholic high school. The varsity (Annette Pitzen, Marg Overton, Kim Crook, Sue Maniscalco, Rose Mary and Casey Anderson) and Junior varsity cheerleaders (Chris Doherty, Captain, Kim Huemann, Mary Olszak, Nadine Palek, and Bridget Fogarty) did a great job organizing the work chop. Annette Pitzen, captain of the varsity squad, gave an in troduction of the program to the young cheerleaders which described just what sort of activities were planned for their workshop. Annette defined what an enthusiastic cheerleader is and then divided them in to three sections; each section learned different aspects of good cheerleading techniques. Once all of these three groups started in on their activities, the gymnasium was vibrating with excitement! Part of the program was an evaluation of the cheers the young girls learned and how well they applied their new knowledge to them. All groups were awarded ribbons varying according to their ac complishments. The clinic seemed to be a successful event because of the learning which came about and the happy way in which it was achieved. there were representatives from Montini Middle School in McHenry, St. John's of John- sburg, Ss. Peter and Paul of Cary, Harrison School in Wonder Lake, St. Margaret good neighbors, and All Of God's Blessings. May you and you and yours have a happy and bountiful Thanksgiving. Mary of Algonquin, Lundahl Junior High in Crystal Lake, and St. Mary's in Woodstock. Both the cheerleaders from Marian who demonstrated and instructed the group and the, younger cheerleaders showed a tremendous amount of en thusiasm. One might conclude that the event was worthwhile if one was aware of how many times "Will there be another clinic soon?" was asked at the conclusion of this clinic. < - "Hutch" Greets 21 Frosh Grapplers Coach Bill Hutchinson just recently put away his Cross Country gear, and has. now donned his wrestling togs, and greeted 21 freshmen out for the squad this year.
