Little Ones Have a Holiday Ball With New Educational Toys Keep the ball rolling! That's what creative Christ mas fun is all about for the youngsters. And, that's what a new toy for gifting is all about! / Colorful cubes with cut out openings plus tubes, of non-toxic plastic, interlock into a maze of inventive dif ferent shapes.'Then, a ball must make its way through the course. The components for this Ingenious plaything come in a kit from Samsonite's new toy collection. The kit consists of ten blocks, short and long chan nel joiners, joiner clips and a ball. The plastic parts snap to gether easily and quickly to form countlcoa construction shapes and sizes. While the youngsters are cleverly assembling the maze for fun, they're also devel oping coordination. One, two -- tie my shoe. Three, four -- learn lots more! Little people from tots to pre-schoolers can get that rhyme down pat if Santa's tucked a new-concept toy in to his pack for Christmas delivery. Lacer-Racer, from the new Samsonite .toy collection, is several toys in one. It is a non-toxic plastic shoe on wheels that makes it easy to learn through play. The pulltoy strings double as shoe laces that make it fun to learn shoe-tying. Colorful traffic safety signs help youngsters recognize road signs as well as differ entiate shapes. The assorted shapes fit in to the shoe in a size sequence ---an exercise in coordina tion and shape sorting. Toy Tour Touring Toyland with the kids is a happy, traditional way to kick off the gift shop ping season. It seems to put the whole family in the mood for Christmas planning, and the children, of course, get lots of ideas for holiday hints to Santa. Many new toys are geared to help youngsters express themselves creatively, wheth er they lean toward arts and crafts, homemaking or build ing skills. Dolls are more var ied and active than ever--the newest fashion manneauins can dance! Another good family shop ping project is the careful selection of major gifts for the home. These should be chosen early. Often they are inspected by the family in full " force. Included in this cate gory are furniture, appliances for the laundry and kitchen, and various types of elec tronic entertainment equip ment. Some gifts, of course, in volve private errands -- the secret surprises from person to person. An early shopping start helps provide time for slipping away to choose those special gifts. And there are so many special precious items to choose from! SECTION 2-PAGE 3-PT ArMDEALER-FRI.. DEC. 7. 1973 Key To A Merrier Family Christmas If you're seeking a key to a Merry Christmas, you might just find one -- liter ally. A key can be an excellent gimmick for adding fun and suspense to Christmas fes tivities. The locked closet game is a good example: Select a convenient closet that can be locked with a key. Pile inside a collection of gaily-wrapped small gifts, the all-purpose kind that are suited to all ages and sexes -- a deck of cards, perhaps, or a colorful poster, or desk accessories. When family and friends are assembled, have them draw lots to determine who gets the first chance to use the key and choose a gift -- blindfolded! Allow only 30 seconds after the blindfold is on for the player to open the closet and grab a gift. If he muffs it. move on to another. The game gains momen tum and gaiety as successful players open the packages they have selected. Those who fail get a chance to choose from remaining gifts at the end.
