Erckman of Whispering Oaks celebrated their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary at a resort mecca in Hakone, Japan. The Erckmans' tour of the Orient covered 21,000 miles and included Tokyo, Nikko, Kamakura, Hakone, Atami, Kyoto and Osaka in Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; Kowloon and Hong King Island; Bangkok, Thailand; Singapore and a stop-over on Honolulu before returning home. The travelers found the Japanese people extremely well groomed, polite and energetic. The Erckmans felt the highlights of the tour were the many Japanese temples and shrines visited; a ride on the 135 m.p.h. "Bullet Train" in Japan; and a Mongolian barbeque at Tapei. They saw some of the 32,000 natives living in junks in Hong Kong Harbor, and thousands of Thais living in rice barges and shacks along the many canals of Bangkok. A Malaysian dinner party in Singapore was also a highlight of the trip. They particularly noted the cleanliness of that city, with a $500 fine for littering. Solution For Cold Room Problem Given By Expert If you have one room that stays cold in winter although the rest of the house is com fortable, the National Better Heating-Cooling council has some suggestions on how to track the problem down. First, check to see that the heating units are actually operating. Then, make sure that the heating units are the size needed to keep the room warm. For this you will need a contractor or a heating expert to check it out. According to the Council, if the room passes these two tests, you probably have a MR. AND MRS. ROBIN RUSHMORE <A/[cVLXi£c[ Do (cRotjLn <zRu±lirno%£. Gospel Ranch, Lake Villa, was the setting for the wedding of Nancy Gillespie of Ringwooa and Robin Rushmore of McHenry. The Rev. Gerry Robertson of Alliance Bible church, McHenry, officiated at the Saturday, Dec. 1, nuptial rite which was performed at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Miss Gillespie is the daughter of Mr. ana Mrs. Ricnard Gillespie of Ringwood. The pretty bride selected a white velvet, empire style dress with scoop neck, bell sleeves and lace, fingertip veil. On her head she wore a crown of pearls and crystals and she carried a bouquet of mums and baby's breath. Her heart- shaped earrings were a gift from the bridegroom's mother, the late Mrs. Helen Jackson. Karen Spirk of McHenry acted as maid of honor and Joanne Gillespie, the bride's sister, was bridesmaid. Both attendants wore empire style dresses in deep blue, with white lace sleeves and scoop neckline. In their hair they wore velvet bows, and eacn carried a bouquet of yellow roses. The dresses of the bride and her attendants were made by the bride's mother. " Randy Rarey of McHenry served as best man and Don Mahoney of Fox Lake was groomsman. Mrs. Gillespie selected a sleeveless, floor length dress of pink knit with matching shawl and a white carnation corsage. A reception followed tne service for 100 guests, held at jnia hall, McHenry. After a wedding trip into northern Minnesota, the newlyweds will reside locally. Both the "bride and groom attended McHenry high school. She is employed by Vivian Woodard Cosmetics, Crystal Lake, and he works for Tim Lively Heating. construction problem, not a heating problem. Problems like these arise usually in rooms where there is an ex traordinary exposure, such as a bedroom over an unheated garage or an addition that is exposed on all sides but one. Even if it is possible to add more heating equipment - often a simple task if your home has hydronic (hot water or steam) heat - it may be better to reduce the heat loss of the cold room. Adding more heat will help only while the heat is on, but the room with high heat loss will get colder faster than the other rooms, and become un comfortable before the rest of the house needs heat again. One way tp offset this problem is to install a separate thermostat for this area which will help it to maintain its own temperature. On the other hand, storm windows, storm doors, weather stripping, and rugs for the floor are the first steps to help the cold room, the Council notes. If these things are not enough, check for air leaks into the walls from the outside, or to the space below the room, and consider adding insulation to the ceiling and walls to make the heat loss from this room comparable to that from other parts of the house. Besides being more com fortable, you'll be cutting down on your heating fuel bills. You can't get a better bargain than that. DIVORCE Betty J. Grabowski from James P. Grabowski, Sr., McHenry.
