WRESTLING CHEERLEADERS. These Sophomore Cheerleaders really had something to cheer about last Friday evening. They cheered the Soph wrestlers to a 61-0 victory against Lake Forest. McHenry won all 11 matches and 6 were by pins. The cheerful gals are L-R doing the splits; Cathy Nellessen and Teri Khidirian. In the back are Ann Larkin, Amy LeLeux-captain, and Cindy Gildemeister. The Soph wrestlers have no meets for the next two weeks but the Varsity wrestling team will travel to Harvard tonight as they enter a 16 team tournament that starts at 6 p.m. The matches will continue all dav Saturday. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) PAGE H-PL \INDEALER-FRIDAY. DECEMBER 21, 1973 GOOD DEFENSE like this first period action aided the Warriors in their bid to take an 18-15 lead (after trailing by 8) at the close of the first period. McHenry increased its lead to 6 points at the half, as the defense produced turnovers. The second half saw Antioch controlling the boards as they defeated McHenry 73-59. In White are Warriors Ben Himpelmann (20) and Kerry Decker (50) as they apply the pressure to an Antioch player. Other Warriors are, l-r, Steve Buss (20), Roger Wanta (44) and Steve Koerber (52). Tonight the Warriors meet Crfwn for a conference game at the West Campus gym. A win would give the Warriors a 3-0 conference record. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) SPORTS First Place Warriors Host Crown Tonight EARL WALSH' Christmas is just around the corner and one wonders what awaits when we make the turn. Reading cards puts us in a great frame of mind. We love the little Drummer Boy so this message hit the right spot: Rum-pa-pum-pum! Christmas is come Filling the air- Joy's everywhere! Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry, Christmas! It's just in knowing friends like you that add a special cheer To holidays and other days throughout the busy year And it brings a special pleasure in sending this to say, So I Hear SPORTS EDITORJ "May all God's special blessings be yours on Christmas day!" The message on some cards is in the picture--and some beautiful ones came to our mailbox. Some people find time to write a little added note. We love'em. What does Christmas mean? It is first of all the birthday of Jesus. That's what it is all about. It is a time when the best traits in people come to the surface. It is a time for jingle bells. It is a time for shopping for gifts. CRYSTAL LAKE 455 1005 ON ROUTE 14 JUST WEST OE ROUTE 31 THEATRES The Producers of "BULLITT" And The "FRENCH CONNECTION" 3 DAYS ONLY! FRI.-SAT.-SUN. It is a time when little children jump with joy as they anticipate Santa's visit. It is a time to recall our youth when it was hard to get to sleep on Christmas Eve. It is a time to remember when we awoke early Christ mas morning and did not find it hard to bounce down the stairs to see the tree and gifts around it. It is a time to recall that our stocking always had an orange in the toe. (Not so many oranges in those days. Mostly apples). It is a time to think of our first and only sled. It is a time to remember those less fortunate. Santa doesn't find his way to every door. It is a time to renew our faith and count our blessings. It is a time to realize that most families have their ups and downs, and understanding is more noble than criticism. It is a time to wish the Best for our fellowman. It is a time to pray for Peace On Earth. It is a time when we walk down the street and greet everybody with a smile. It is a time to be happy--and maybe a little gay. It is a time to perk up our love for our own dear ones and find something to like in every person we know. Our wife dug out the following which was written years ago with pencil on an old sheet of tablet. The paper is now wrinkled, faded and yellow with age: Among the thin covers, Jesus slept Away from the world, at present left. As Angels sang o'er His blessed head In the distant stable so dark and dread Shepherds from fields afar then came And arriving heard His Holy Name. Enveloped behind the clouds of night Was the star that led them to this site. Kings travelled long from distant lands To kneel at His feet and touch His hands. Gifts of myrrh, incense and gold Were tokens of their joy untold. Nobody has ever found a better way than to wish you a Merry Christmas. We can only add that we mean it sincerely. Common sense is so scarce, that it can be classed as un common. Tons of talent are lost, for lack of an ounce of courage. By Dick Rabbitt The Warriors of McHenry, a co-leader in the North Suburban, host the last place Crown Vikings tonight in a game at West Campus gym. Tip off is at 8 p.m. This will be the first game ever between the two schools in basketball. Crown is a newcomer to the North Suburban, having played in the Tri-County league for the past six years. Crown has only two lettermen returning from last year's squad, Ray Foster a 5'9" guard and Roger Schuring a 6'0" forward. Crown is currently tied with Crystal Lake for last place in the league. Coach Ludwig is mindful to keep his league leading Warriors alert for a possible letdown. The league is well balanced as you can see by the standings. They will have to rebound better than they did against Antioch last Saturday night. I'm sure that Coach Ludwig will have the squad up for the game, and I know the squad would like to leave for vacation in sole possession of first place in the conference. On Wed nesday, Dec. 26at 5:30 p.m. the Warriors will meet Bradley in the Kankakee Tournament.
