WOMEN'S " CLUB MEETING The Lakeland ^ark Women's Club held its first meeting of the New Year on Thursday, Jan. 3. Ap proximately sixteen women were at the community house and participated in a wine tasting presentation. The ladies also enjoyed pizza and cheese and crackers. Everyone especially enjoyed this meeting hosted by Ann Rehfinger and Edna Domrese as it was very informative as well as fun! BOARD MEMBERS MET Board members of the Lakeland Park Property Owners Association also met A PILOT, ALMOST Dick Walinski is looking forward to becoming a licensed pilot any day now. Remember to wish him luck with the exam he must take and pass to obtain his license! • NEW YEAR'S EVE FUN! Dick, Bev and Linda Walinski welcomed in the New Year from Bev's folk's home in Chicago. Bill and Gert Fandre planned a quiet evening of celebration at their home.' Steve and I rang in the New Year with John and Sharon Gacek and Jerry and Penny Treadwell at our home. Jerry and Elaine Worth spent a quiet evening at their home in celebration of the New Year. NEW YEAR'S DAY Dick and Bev Walinski had a few friends pver to their home New Year's Day for a delicious chicken dinner that Linda helped her mom serve. Guests included Vern and Marcella Raiford, their daughter, Lois, and her fiance, Allen Wilkening, and Mrs. Willie Meyers. Everyone had a most enjoyable time and appreciated Bev's efforts in preparing such a delicious meal on the first day of the New Year! FUN LEAGUE NEWS The bowlers were at it again Dec. 29 and in addition to the extra fun of receiving their Christmas grab bag gifts, the ale team members had an for the fir^t time in the New ^ expecially exciting night. Year on Ja\i. 3. Probably the most interesting highlight of the meeting was that a ten tative date was s&t for the general meeting. Marthh 31 at 2 p.m. is the date and time to pencil in on your calendar. This is a very important meeting as members of the association will vote on new board members and pertinent issues. A nominating committee will be formed by Les Eckhart, president of the association, and at that time you can con tact these people if you wish to run for a position on the board or know of someone who is interested in becoming a board member. I will list the names of the people on the nominating committee in a future column. CHRISTMAS FUN Ken and Sue Volz had a house full of company on Christmas Day and Debbie and Denny were pretty happy with all the excitement at their home. Charlene Mueller and her daughters, Cathy and Wendy, Pattt and Judy Patterson and their children Matt, Mark, Melody and Michelle, and Pat and Howard Volz and their sons, Terry and David, werfe at the Volz home for a very delicious dinner! All the women contributed to the festive me^l and from what I understand/it was great! And, everyone had a very Merry Christmas at the Volz home! - I FEELING BETTER Am glad say that Lillian Budish, Sue Volz's mom, is home from the hospital and is feeling better. That's a happy way to begin the new year! HOLIDAY TRIP " Millie Viita and her daughter, Marlene, packed their suit cases and on Christmas Day boarded a jet plane bound for an exciting trip to San Fran cisco! The women had>4 marvelous ten day vacation that included a visit to Berkeley and Sausalito. Sights they enjoyed in San Francisco in cluded Fisherman's Wharf and Telegraph Hill as well as the various places of interest they visited while riding the cable cars. Both Millie and Marlene had a marvelous time and Millie says she hopes to return to that very exciting city someday! Tom Michaelson leads the men with a 596 high series scratch! He also bowled an exciting 252 game! High series with handicap is now held by Ron Meurer who bowled a 660. Don Mercure bowled a great 244 which is the high game scratch for the men on the league. Tom Connors also had an exciting night as he bowled a 215 game and had a 656 scratch series. Roy Apel bowled a 208 game and his scratch series was 512. From what I heard the women weren't in their best form! Probably tired from all the work they did getting ready for the holidays, right ladies? Team standings are as follows: First place team is the McHenry Pussycats who won 19 and lost 9. The Red Hots are in second place with 18 wins and 10 losses. The Bombers hold third place with 17 wins and 11 losses Fourth place team, the Question Marks, and fifth place team, the Lunkers are tied with 16 wins and 12 losses. Lotsa Luck, All the Way and The Raiders, the sixth, seventh and eighth place teams, have the same win-loss record which is 15-13. No Show holds ninth place with 13 wins 15 losses. The Sit Downs are tenth place with 10 wins and 18 losses. Can You Top Us? is the eleventh place team and the Pin Poppers are in twelfth place. Both of these teams have 7 wins and 21 losses! Dick and Bev entertained John and Maureen Johnson and Max and Shirley Koch for dinner at their home. Bev prepared another delicious dinner that everyone enjoyed. Later in the evening they v#re joined by John and Maureen Fiore who drove out from Chicago to spend the weekend. While the Fiores were visiting with the Walinskis, Carol Fandre took all the children for a ride on a snowlhobile. The children who were thrilled with Aunt Carol are Linda Walinski (it was her first ride), John Patrick and Mark Fiore, the Sword children and of course Aunt Carol's own children Billy, Timmy and Kelly Fan dre! Everyone enjoyed the fun- filled weekend! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Today is the special day for Eddie Erb, Jr., and Scott Fish. Happy birthday!
