Mrs. Holz will instruct the discussion group on con versational prayer. This method of prayer was devised by Rosalind Rinker, author of the book, "Prayer, Conversing with God". The idea of con versational prayer is brevity - short, one sentence prayers which bring Our Lord into our daily lives and activities. Many people in the community have shown an interest in this type of prayer and the public is invited to attend the meeting which will begin at 1:30 p.m. Please call Armenie Bach at 653-9800 for more information. Energy, imagination and-: honest concern to help our firemen through the auxiliary is needed. \ The program tor 1974 will be discussed. Some ideas to be voted on are: the firemen, auxiliary and spouses pot luck mixer for March 2, also a kitchen band and craft making for our bazaars. We are hoping for more ideas from the members. Our main goal for 1974 is to help our firemen and also have an enjoyable night out. Can you help us? Please attend the first meeting, Thursday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. at the Firehouse, Company No. 1, East of Wonder Lake road. For more in formation, call Millie O'Brien, 3-3131 and Marge Evans, 3-3294. The Auxiliary of Company No. 1 and Company No. 2 are very proud of the new jackets our men are wearing. Hoping we can do more for them in 1974. See you Jari. 17. June Novak, President POSTAL SERVICES The Wonder Lake Post Of fice, L.W. Murphy, Officer in Charge, announces the following: Although most bulk mail still travels by highway truck, the U.S. Postal Service's fuel conservation program has resulted in an increased use of fast freight trains, according to Richard Koenigs, Director of the Logistics Division of the Postal Service's Central Region headquarters in Chicago. "Prior to the energy crisis when volumes of bulk mail exeeded normal amounts hauled by highway contractors' trucks, truck runs would be used to handle the added load," Mr. Koenigs said. "Since the crisis, these loads are placed in vans and loaded piggy-back on fast freight trains," he said. Bulk mail includes third class printed matter, non-time value publications and ordinary parcel post. If space is available, it is loaded on high way contractor's trucks or- Amtrak trains used to hauT preferential mail. In addition to first class mail, preferential mail includes newspapers, magazines, special delivery and special handling parcels. "Generally, rail 1 tran sportation uses 80 per cent less fuel than highwayv tran sportation for a given volume of cargo," Mr. Koenigs said. "Our use of trains saves fuel for the postal service, and we are committed to saving all the fuel we can." The two products, Apriken and Bee-Seven teen, are sold nationally as special dietary supplements, primarily in health food stores. These products are distributed by G e n e r a l R e s e a r c h Laboratories, Van Nuys, Calif. The Food and Drug ad ministration said that the Apriken capsules were found to contain an average of two milligrams of hydrogen cyanide per capsule and estimate that ingestion of five such capsules could result in cyanide poisoning and be fatal to a child. They further estimate that twenty capsules could be fatal to an adult. These conclusions are based on oral toxicity studies performed on rats at the University of Arizona School of Phar macology. The F.D.A. also estimates that two packets of the Bee-Seventeen product contain enough hydrogen cyanide to cause cyanide poisoning in a small child. Based on the information provided to us, the McHenry County Department of Health recommends that any persons having Apriken or Bee- Seventeen not use it but contact the Department for prope;- disposition of the product. 3720 WEST ELM STREET A McHENRY, ILLINOIS Phone: 385-7030 O N ( < / HOURS: Mon.-Fri. 9-10 Saturday 9-9 Sunday 9-6 6 PACK N.R.
