GIRL SCO\JT COOKIES There seem to be many good reasons to buy Girl Scout cookies this year. Possibly the most important one is that 42Vfe cents of each dollar per box of cookies sold will be used by the Sybaquay Girl ScouV Council right in our own area. The newly purchased 285 acre site in Woodstock needs to be developed so that Scouts in areas of McHenry, Lake, Cook, DuPage, Kane, LaSalle and DeKalb counties can utilize the camping grounds as soon as possible. All the money earned by the Council (42Vfe cents per box) will be used to benefit the Woodstock property this year* Another reason to buy the cookies is that 10 cents per box sold by the Troop, stays inH^ie Troop funds for their own usfE Cadette Troop 420 of W( Lake is working especially hard this year on cookie sales and other money making projects with hopes of taking a jet airline trip to Detroit in the Spring as a result of their ef forts. The next reason for buying Girl Scout cookies hits us right in the pocketbook. No one needs to tell us about the increases in flour, cooking oils, etc., this past year. However, Girl Scout Cookies remain the same price as in 1973 and in comparison with store bought cookies, they really are a good buy. Scouts will be knocking on your doors beginning next Wednesday, Feb. 6. Let's support these hard working youngsters and their wor thwhile causes. BIRTHDAY GREETINGS Birthday greetings to Vincent Cook, son of Jerry and Mike QpiSk, who will be nine years old on Feb. 3. Have a happy day, Vin. CHEERLEADERS Students of the sixth grades at Harrison school recently elected cheerleaders for their Junior Varsity teams^JFhe-girls chosen are: Eileen Ahem, Dee Sturm, Sue Gunderson, Maria Warren and Anne Bazan. NEW STOP SIGNS With the cooperation of Democratic Committeeman Pete Hellios and Sheriff Art Tyrrell, two stop signs have been placed at Thompson Road and Route 120. Because of the high accident rate at this corner, it is hoped that in the near future a flashing light can be installed there. HAPPY BIRTHDAY On Feb. 5, happy birthday wishes go to Ann (Mrs. Pete) •Mrowka. Have a good day and a great year, Ann. USECHOPSTI The first grade students of Miss Freiburger'sN^lass at Harrison School have spent some time studying about \ Japan and its customs. One fine day last week the children were - given chopsticks and were served a rice dish to eat at school. They brought the chopstick& home and I suppose most of the kids attempted to eat supper with them, as did our son, Kevin. With a little extra effort and a lot of per- severence, he got through the meal quite well, but when he got to dessert, he decided to switch back to our American way of living - after all, who ever heard of eating jello with chopsticks? GET-WELL WISHES Get well wishes to Jo Hansen, who we understand has been hospitalized recently with a pinched nerve. Hope you're up and about real soon, Jo.
