The idea for a Kitchen Band went over unanimously, and hope to get swinging at the next meeting which is Feb. 19, so get out the pots and pans and let's strike up the band. The Cadette Scouts of Troop 420, Wonder Lake, completed a successful paper drive on Saturday, Feb. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harney helped the Troop organize the drive. Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts in Kachina Neigh­ borhood are preparing for the annual Girl Scout cookie sales campaign coming Feb. 6 through Feb. 20. The girls will be seeking support through cookie sales not only for their individual troops but for the area council. Funds earned will be used by the council to begin developing the new Woodstock property, recently purchased by the Sybaquay Girl Scout Council, into a camping area for local Scouts. Mrs. Donna Beyer, Neigh­ borhood cookie chairman, and her committee are organizing the coming sales. FIRST TRAIN HIDE When the shiny, yellow, double decker train pulled out frorr^ the Woodstock depot last Friday on a round trip journey to Harvard, fifty-one kin­ dergarten students from Harrison school were among the passengers aboard. For many it was the very first time they had been on a train ride. The first hand experience in­ cluded seeing a rea-life con­ ductor, a chance to ride downstairs on the way to Harvard and upstairs on the way back to Woodstock, and jawbreakers to suck on while watching the countryside fly by. Their teacher, Mrs. Mavis Bagby, explained that the trip was arranged in conjunction with a transportation unit the children have been working on in school. Room mothers who accompanied the young travelers wererMarcia Nelson, Jean Michelsen, Joan Freund, Ann Eberle and Judy Lermer. Mrs. Linda Simon, who drove the children to Woodstock on the school bus, also went along for the train ride.
