(DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY) Changing emphasis in the work of technicians and staff members at theMcHenry County Soil and Water Con servation district reflects the growing spread of the urban community northwesterly from Chicago, the annual report presented cooperators of the district last weekend shows. In his year end report, David Cash, Harvard cattle feeder and grain farmer who is secretary, said increased emphasis involves indication of the limitations of various land areas for urban use. Reports were given at the district an nual meeting last weekend. Cash listed such urban uses as septic tank disposal fields, suitability for building foun dations, water hazards and suitability for agricultural use. Robert Fleck, McHenry, chairman of the McHenry County Soil and Water Con servation district, recognized the growing pressure to ur banize McHenry county's farmland. Recent state law requires the Soil and Water Conservation district to give a factual report on the suitability of land for a specific purpose when a zoning change is requested. This report involves much time and serious con sideration by staff members who must assimilate and analyze technical data. The scope of the district's work since its founding in 1947 can be gleaned from the large number of organizations, boards and commissions it works with. In many cases the district has a representative attend meetings or sit on those group governing bodies. The list includes the County Planning commission, County Extension council, County College Advisory board, Outdoor Education Center board, McHenry County board, McHenry County Farm Bureau board, County Agricultural S t a b i l i z a t i o n c o m m i t t e e , C o u n t y C o n s e r v a t i o n , a n d Citizens Advisory committee.
