There are lots of little villages, but you can't recognize any of them after all. But hold on, there is <me that is unmistakable. It is Ronda, setting above the great cliff. Out with the camera and hurry, this is a truly last shot. "Afterward you see the Atlantic and know you are over Portugal and when this land goes out of view it is a long, long time before land comes into view again. Here it is all covered with snow and ice and now you find that you are over Labrador. This lasts a long time, then the clouds come in and hide all. "A real treat is a clear spot and a great view of Toronto and its suburbs. Finally, it's Frozen, Lake, Mich; Chicago amT^ O'Hare and you feel it's all over. But not quite, so you must clear customs and here I lost all the beans, funny peas, two-inch long acorns, walnuts and more that turned out to be 'no-nos'. Yes, the cold was hard to ac cept after the time spent on the shores of sunny Costa Del Sol." Spring Grove Eva Freund 675-2135 Scribe Visits Family In England During Holidays Here I am back in the U.S.A. and wishing you all season's greetings for 1974. I spent the holidays in Europe with my daughter, Charlotte, and family, Major and Mrs. Charles Korus and children, Sherri, Ginny, Joe and Don, in Wadenhoe, England. I am just now getting bade into a routine of living here. It takes awhile when there is a difference of seven hours in time and being in England for six weeks. The first week of my return I was Rip-Van-Winkle, a bed looks ever so inviting. And now for some of the things I did while in England. Preparations for Christmas with the family were great fun. We baked cookies and nut-fruit breads, made decorations and trimmed the house and tree. The children delivered plates of cookies to their friends in the village. Christmas dinner was served in the English manner with roast goose on the menu and the traditional hats were worn (such as we do for New Year's Eve), and there was the popping of favors and fireworks, that is sparklers. While there I was wined and dined by friends in the village and at the Air Force officer's homes as well as at some of the elegant eating places. Many of these maintain a historical background. We had dinner at a hotel which had the staircase Mary, Queen of Scots had descended when she was taken to be beheaded. I very calmly kept my head and walked down the same staircase. Just before my return home, Chuck, Char and I spent two days in London. We had a tour of Westminster Abbey and stood before the altar where Princess Anne's marriage had taken place. In the evening we saw a play with Ingrid Bergman in person, it was a beautiful performance! The next day we walked through Hampton Court Palace on the banks of the River Thames. It was built in the fifteenth cen tury during the reign of King Henry VIII. The paintings on walls and ceilings and the original furnishings were superb. All good things must end and my plane left at 2 p.m. Upon approaching Chicago, the Captain informed us weather conditions would prevent landing and the reason was FOG, ironic isn't it? I saw no fog in England. We had to land in Detroit and there was a four hour delay before clearance for Chicago landing. All ended well and here I am safe and sound.
