Vehicle, Dog Tags Cost More After Feb. 15 Let's play a little game. The name erf the game is "Save $10." To play just look at the date at the top of the page. Does it tell you anything? It should say Friday, the fifteenth of February. That tells me that it's the last day to purchase your vehicle and dog tags. If you already have secured yours, then you have saved yourself a $10 fine, if not then you are subject to lose $10 if caught by the police depart­ ment. I hope that I have saved you the $10 but in any case if you have not yet purchased your vehicle stickers the price does increase after Feb. 15. VOTERS REGISTRATION We are getting close to the March 19 primary and the all important RTA referendum. If you plan on voting be sure that you are registered. For your convenience the village clerk is a voter's registrar. BOARD MEETINGS The village board meets on the second and fourth Thursday every month at the village hall located at 3211 Beath. The location is centralized within the village limits and is con­ venient to all residents. Take this opportunity to see your village offices in operation and come to the board meeting to keep yourself well informed. If you have a problem or wish to be heard by the village board it would be appreciated it you would call the clerk so that you could be scheduled on the agenda, but even if you do not inform the clerk there is always a place on the agenda that is open to hear local residents. Through the fine efforts of the Women's club Santa's visit was a pleasant one. Santa delivered close to 150 stockings to children of all ages from 6 months to 76 years old. The carolers organized by Gerry Olbinski did a fine job. The next major project for the Women's club will be the first of two fund raising projects scheduled for the year. Gerry Olbinski is the chairman for the village garage sale. This year the garage sale will be held much earlier to enable the Women's club to have funds to function various events for the village residents. Your cooperation is much needed in this event. Contact Gerry at 385-2358 if you have salable merchandise. Last year we reached the goal of $500 profit and this year the hopes are even greater. Many visitors during last yearns three day garage sale spoke highly of the quality, and quantity of the merchandise. Wm. Pinkonsly, Sr., is in McHenry hospital for surgery. I'm sure that both men would appreciate a card of concern from their neighbors. Open to all interested persons, this workshop will help people become knowledgeable on the subject of the Equal Rights amendment and prepare them to speak on ERA. The McHenry county chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants will hold its monthly meeting at the Crystal Pines Nursing home, Crystal Lake, Tuesday evening, Feb. 19. A tour of the home will be mad* Mrs. Orvilla Jaenicke, president of the chapter, invites all medical assistants who reside in the county to attend. Medical assistants residing in the county are eligible for membership. Many interesting meetings have been held in recent months. One of the speakers was James O'Heir, director of the Trauma unit of McHenry hospital, who spoke on the newly formed system in the state. Another time, Sheriff Arthur Tyrrell addressed the group on drug abuse on nation­ wide and local levels. In January, Dr. George Alvary of the- McHenry hospital staff addressed the group. American Legion 4 uxiliary News McHENRY UNIT 491 By Pearl Cooper President, Mrs. Lloyd (Midge) Scharf, opened the January meeting after the advancement of the flags, the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" and the pledge of allegiance with thirty-five members present. The charter was draped for departed members Pearl Sanders and Severiria Unti by President Midge Scharf and Chaplain Dorothy Diedrich. Americanism Chairman Ruth Mrachek announced that an outside flag was donated to the McHenry Junior high school, and asked for a $10 donation for the American seminar at Valley Forge. This donation was approved. The "Care" light, for 'rural electrification' in South Korea, was passed by Foreign Relations Chairman Lydia Fenner. Grace Latimer, Children and Youth chairman, announced that thirteen families, with Sixty children, received Christmas baskets. It was noted that the Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary also helped in this project with cash donations. Pat and Reba Owen also made a cash donation toward the baskets. Rehabilitation Chairman Marie Howe told of the Christmas gift wrap shop at Elgin hospital that was at­ tended by herself, Midge Scharf and Betty Lou Smith. She thanked the members for the six dozen cookies made for the Christmas party at the hospital. Mrs. Howe announced that $138 credit was given to the McHenry unit for the many gifts. The chairman for February will be Theresa Hnska Children's Choir Visits McHenry Church Sunday The children's chair of the First United Methodist church of McHenry, as part of the ecumenical movement in the city, will sing at St. Patrick's church Feb. 24 at the 9:45 a.m. Mass. After a long search for a name for the choir, Irene Wittrock, wife of the choir director, Ed Wittrock, suggested the name Anally selected, The Joyful Noises. Mrs. Wittrock assists her husband with the group. Those who have heard the choir sing agree they are a joy to hear. However, the name is also appropriate for another reason. It was taken from the Biblical passage Psalms 98, Verse4... "make a Joyful noise unto the Lord". Patti Brooke is accompanist for the choir.
