SNOWMOBILE FUN! Two families from Lakeland Park spent a fun weekend in the snow earlier this month. Bill and Carol Fandre and their children, Billy, Timmy and Kelley, were joined by Larry and Mary Alice Sword and their sons, Todd, Scott and Mark, for fun in the snow. They all journeyed to Crivitz, Wis., where they spent four days at cabins with easy access to the wide open spaces of Wisconsin. Newspapers, magazines and corrugated cardboard should be bundled and tied and brought to the market place between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Bottles and cans will also be accepted. OAA Mommy Wreck Night At West Campus Last Thursday, Feb. 7, many of the members of the West Campus GAA and their moms participated in the annual Mommy Wreck Night. Several of our residents and their daughters were ampng those in attendance. Pat Hughes and her daughter, Denise, Mary Ann and Deb Mahon, Marge and Eileen Connell, and Tillie Williams, substitute mom for Cathy Connell were among those from Holiday Hills. The girls and their moms were teammates. Everyone was grouped and given an interesting team name. The teams competed at volleyball, badminton, cage ball, and relay races. Later in the evening, the GAA board members per­ formed a skit for their audience. Coffee and refresh­ ments were served as an end to an enjoyable evening for mothers and daughters alike. GIRLSCOUT COOKIE SALE If you haven't seen a Girl Scout taking orders for Girl Scout cookies yet, be on the look-out, as they'll be taking orders until Feb. 17. Each year the girls are hoping for better and better sales because 10 cents of every dollar goes to the troop. This money helps the girls finance their camping trips. The troop has several camp-outs each year and buying Girl Scout cookies is one way which we can help the girls in the troop fulfill their badge requirements, as the money they make from the sale of the cookies helps pay for their camp-outs. BOYSCOUT AWARD DINNER On Sunday, Feb. 10, the McHenry Boy Scouts of America Troop 162, held their annual awards dinner at the American Legion hall. Congratulations to some of the boys from our subdivision who received their merit badges; Eddie, Tim and Tom Hughes, and Ricky Connell. Incidentally, this is National Boy Scout month and the week of Feb. 7 through 13 is Boy Scout week. We have all seen the excellent work the Boy Scouts have accomplished through brotherhood and in many other areas. DRAMA CLUB NOTES Cathy Connell was among the cast of the recent performance at West Campus of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". After their successful presentation of the play the Drama class elected to charter a bus to take them to the Schubert Theater in Chicago to see the stage performance of "Gfease". The entire drama class attended and enjoyed every laughable moment of the play. SKIING WEEKEND One of our families enjoying the abundance of snow this year is that of Don and Midge Teuber. The Teubers and their children, Keith, Kurt, Patrick and Kristopher, packed up the ski equipment and headed for Galena for the weekend. The Teubers were joined by friends, the Ed Tead family. The weekend was filled with en­ joyment, with the exception of Ed falling and breaking his ankle, sorry Ed, hope this doesn't keep you off the skis next year! VALENTINE'S DAY WISH .. BOWLING NEWS A word on the Friday night mixed leagues at Crystal Lake. Larry and Sharon Kottke had acquired new teammates at the end of December. Their new teammates are Jim and Sandi Kelly. Since the Kellys and Kottkes have become a team their bowling ability has steadily improved, they've moved up four places in the stan­ dings. Larry Kottke was the proud holder of a 225 on Feb. 1! ATTEND SNOWMOBILE RACES Early Sunday, Feb. 10, Larry Kottke, Jim Kottke, his brother, Paul, Don Lichter, his son, Donnie, and Jim Lemon and his son, Chris, drove to Milwaukee, Wis., to observe championship snowmobile races. Hundreds of snowmobilers converged at the Wisconsin state fairgrounds for the races. Contestants and observers alike had a near perfect day to enjoy. The guys report numerous crack-ups. The faster snowmobiles were traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour, and skill was the decisive factor in every race. .
