The accident oc­ curred at 4727 Crystal Lake road. Robert R. Barrows of 1959 Shelia, Woodstock, was south­ bound on the roadway when he saw the jeep in front of him start to make a left turn. He applied his brakes but was unable to avoid a collision. Barle told officers he was preparing to turn into a driveway When he heard the squeal of tires and the next thing he knew, he was upside down. Our faith has been restored! K.A.F. Vandalism At Holiday Hills Two incidents of vandalism were reported early Monday morning by Holiday Hills residents. A 12:15 a.m., Virginia Mroz of 2503 S. Lilac informed county officials that she was awakened by a noise. When she checked the premises, she found the front picture window of the house had been broken by a rock which was found on the ground outside. Fifteen minutes later, Marie Gibbs of 1402 W. Sunset HOSPITAL NOTES McHENRY HOSPITAL Patients admitted to McHenry hospital included Cheryle Mumma, Alice Deutsch, Anthony Siadek, Mary Howell, Lucie Shillace, McHenry; Anna Vehovsky, Gail VanKanegan, Wonder Lake; Edward Sekorski, Spring Grove. reported that while she was in the living room, a rock was thrown, breaking both the storm window and inner glass of a window. While on routine patrol Tuesday night at Parkland Junior high school, 1802 N. Ringwood road, Officer James Molenar of the McHenry Police department observed a small window out and another large plate glass window broken on the north side of the building. Investigation revealed entry had been made to a science room where a teacher's desk was ransacked and a display was damaged and thrown about the room. Officers found ap­ proximately $250 in science materials outside the school. It appeared nothing else was missing from the premises. St. Mary's church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the McHenry County Memorial hospital at Woodstock. Deaths FERDINAND J. BAUER Ferdinand J. (Fred) Bauer, 74, of 5160 Los Flores avenue, Long Beach, Calif., died in the Crystal pines Nursing home, Crystal Lake, Wednesday, Feb. 20. ̂ Mr. Bauer was born Sept. 6, 1899, in Chicago. He was married in St. Mary's Catholic Church, McHenry, in October of 1935 to Lillian Freund of McHenry. The deceased was a member of Local 126, International Association of Machinists, Bell wood. Besides his wife, he* leaves one sister, Miss Margaret Bauer, of Chicago, and three brothers, Joseph F. and John A. of Chicago and George E. of Houston, Texas. There will be visitation after 2 o'clock Friday at the George R. Justen & Son chapel. A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary's church at 10 o'clock Saturday, with interment in the church cemetery. ELSIE C.OLSON Mrs. Elsie C. Olson, 62, 520 N. Clement Lodge road, McHenry, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Presbyterian-St. Luke hospital, Chicago. She was born April 15,1911, in Chicago and had lived here since 1949. She was employed at Homsby's. Survivors include her husband, Milton E., whom she married Feb. 19, 1932, in Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. David (Karen) Kent, McHenry, and Mrs. Roy (Helen) Dodd, Columbus, Ohio; one son, John M., McHenry; eight grand­ children; one sister, Mrs. C a t h e r i n e E n g b e r g , DesPlaines. Visitation was scheduled after 3 o'clock Thursday af­ ternoon at the Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home. A funeral Mass will be offered Friday morning at 10 o'clock at ELLEN A. EDWARDS Mrs. Ellen A. Edwards, 86, 2104 N. Chapel Hill avenue, McHenry, was pronounced dead on arrival at McHenry hospital, Tuesday, Feb. 19. Born in Chicago, Aug. 17, 1887, Mrs. Edwards had resided in the home of her niece and family, George, Marion and Jordi Ellen Reed. She is also survived by another niece, Harriett E. Riley, Santa Ana, Calif. Her husband, Wilbur F., preceded her in death in 1943. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in the Muehlhoffer funeral home, Belmont avenue, Chicago, with interment in Rosehill cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Johnsburg Rescue squad. Tijuana Tacos Drain 2 cans (6 to 8 oz. each) sliced mushrooms, reserving liq­ uid. Add sufficient water to mush­ room liquid to make IVicups; set aside. In a large skillet add 1 pound lean ground beef and Vz cup finely chopped onion; saute until browned. (Add some of the mushroom liquid if meat tends to stick in pan.) Sprinkle 1 package (1% oz.) sloppy Joe seasoning mix over meat mixture. Stir in 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste, reserved mushroom liquid and % teaspoon chili powder. Cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add reserved mushrooms; cook 2 minutes long­ er. Meanwhile, shape each of 6 slices thinly sliced bread into a roll. Fasten with string or tooth­ picks. Place on a cookie sheet. Toast in hot oven (400°F.) for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove string or toothpicks. Fill toasted bread "tacos" with mushroom mixture. Garnish with Vi cup shredded lettuce. Serve with chili peppers, if desired. Yields 6 low-caloried portions.
